I'm putting a Hurst Quarterstick in my Chevelle and have ran into a problem. I have the shifter mounted to the trans tunnel, I have the bracket mounted to the trans pan per instructions and I have the shifter bracket on the trans shifter per instructions. Now the cable.....I have it connected to the shifter and now I'm trying to get it to fit into the shifter bracket.........but it won't! I've tried adjusting the bracket but cant...I've even tried adjsting the swivel but no matter what I do I cannot get the swivel in the hole. Am I doing something wrong? Or are Hurst shifters just plain junk?

Turbo Action Cheetah.

The sell a black grain "consol" for it, to keep things clean.

I've tried Hurst quarter stick, B&M pro stick, B&M ratchet, and they didnt compair to the Cheetah.

Not to mention they include a "Morse" Cable.

I'm not looking to change shifters unless I really have to. I want to stay with this one I just wished the cable had threads on the part that runs thru the pan bracket and not this groove crap. If it only had those threads I'd be in buisness.

My Hurst shifter was an easy install. And we had never done anything like that before. Mine is a Dual/Gate 2 tho.

Dawg,
Probably 90% of Drag race cars use the Q-stick, they cant be that bad. Must be something wrong for you to not be able to get it hooked up.

If it had a threaded cover end (the part that attaches to both the shifter and the pan bracket) it would be easy as I could adjust it in and out as needed. This one has a notch style cover end so the only adjustable part is the swivel.

Oh yeah, I tried calling Hurst tech line but I keep getting disconnected....either that or I get told "please call back during normal buisness hours" (which is 8:30 am-5 pm...and I'm calling at 10 am!) and their website won't let me download anything despite the fact I do have acrobat reader on my computer. I'm beginning to think this will be the last Hurst item I ever purchase..... graemlins/angry.gif

sorry but my Quarterstick was a breeze to install. I even retained my stock console and made a custom cover for it (Will post picture if anyone is interested).

Hope you get it squared away-maybe a little modifying is in order?

Probably is the same for their webmaster. Got a camera? Take a couple pics and post them, maybe someone can give some more advice.

BTW I got just now onto the their website and was able to download their quartestick in structions with no trouble at all. I'd check your Adobe and see if you might need an update.

Well I got it to work but I had to basicly "improperly mount" the pan bracket and use only one bolt to hold it on instead of two. The cable was still a bitch to get in there but I got it although it does have some pressure on it in park. I'm willing to bet this won't last long either.

And it was a first time try for me and it came out great.......no problems at all! I was expecting the same on this one but because the cable is made differently is why.

Same thing happpened to me.

The problem is the bracket that attaches to your tranny pan. Hurst supplies a TH-400 bracket and you
are bolting it to a TH-350. If you call Hurst they
will say its the correct one but if you have a true
TH-350 bracket you will see the differance.

The bracket I'm using is part #117 4778. Which one is for TH350?
