Im slowly moving ahead here on my parts list. I think some type of full lenth headers would be nice. Either way my exhaust will have to be cut to fit the big block exhaust. If I can find a nice performing, nothing too fancy (expensive) and ceramic, id be one happy camper. Whats the difference in performance (HP/etc) between the shorty's and full length style? Do chrome headers always fade and change color?

Shorties may or may not build a little more torque right off-idle, while full length should make more torque across the RPM band (and therefore more HP). BUT, all combos respond differently to header/exhaust design, but that's the basics that are generally accepted.

As for a set of inexpensive ceramics:

1. Dynomax Ceramic (JET-HOT) Coated #85089
(105bucks/pair) http://store.summitracing.com/default.asp?target=partdetail.asp&part=WLK%2D85089&N=120+4294923429+4294923428+302002

2. Dynomax Ceramic (JET-HOT) Coated #86089

These come with gasket, bolts, and collector reducers. Not sure if the actual header is the same as above? (235bucks/pair)

The first set is super cheap, $105? In the description is says painted, and another part says ceramic coated, also the pic is painted... pics arent always the same as the product. I wonder! Also, should the ports be matched the same from header to heads? I have oval port heads. Yeah, something under 250 would be nice.

You sure they're not ceramic? Did you call them or something?

Not like I care about the price, I don't have a BBC, lol.

Summit rat headers are around $90 BUT the paint they come with is really for storage only, you have to strip and paint them. THe Dynomax ceramics are around $235 orso I thought.

Just bought and installed a set of Dynomax ceramic from Summit. $271 + $9 shipping. Think the price at Jeg's was ~$269, don't know what they charge for shipping.

I love my $79 big block headers from Summit
part # SUM-G9010
as Gene mentioned, they come with "shipping" paint.
I stripped off the shipping paint with aircraft stripper, lightly sanded the tubes, and then painted them w/black VHT

Yeah I think something like these would be the best. The set I had on my small block were those flowtech/holley shorty's they came in the "painted" which is def. only good for storage, I also used aircraft stripper, mean stuff smile.gif and painted them, came out pretty good. Do I have to worry about steering column clearance with these BBC Ceramics below? Or any for that matter.
