Anyone have expierence with the small cap HEI's rebuilt by Dave Ray or should I just look at an MSD ready to run. And opinion on need for MSD ignition box vs regular HEI set for street only application.
Thanks

Going on 2 years in my 383 with no complaints. I keep the car in good tune but people notice how quick the engine fires or should I say explodes to life. Had a cracked plug and other than not getting the gas mileage I was use to I wouldn't have noticed anything was wrong and I attribute that to the ignition...

Thanks guys. Pretty much confirmed my plan. Spoke with Dave and he is leaving the land of "fruits and nuts: or Calleforigenia as the terminator govenor proclaims. Headed to Washington so may be a while before he is up and running again but I have time. Spoke fondly of Gene Chas regarding a thermostat choice. Seems likke a good guy.

Dave's great, man. He's helped me tremendously over the past few years with my own distributor "foibles", even though he has yet to make a dime off of me.

Now that I'm making a few extra bucks, I may get him to set me up with a distributor. I've always wanted a small-body HEI with a professional curve on it.

BTW, good to hear from you, SoCalRat. It's been a while.

BTW, good to hear from you, SoCalRat. It's been a while. I'll second that. Dave went out of his way to help me dial in my ZZ4 HEI, and went so far as to email detailed instructions and photos, asking nothing in return. I'd do business with someone like that any day. Ignitionman is the man. graemlins/thumbsup.gif

I run one of his conversions on my Chevelle. Its worked fine for 2-3 years.

I am very happy with the product AND the customer support Dave provided...

I will definitely use him again for future projects...
