Anyone have any advise on swapping a stock ZZ502 cam.
Currently:
9.6:1 compression
aluminum oval 110CC semi-open combustion chamber.
dual plane intake
850 Holley vac. sec.
hydraulic roller 110 degree centerline
527/544 lift
224/234 duration
370 gears
28" tires
Turbo 400
Stall 3400 ?
power brakes
Looking for more upper end power on pump gas.
Is this to radical?
Crower HYD roller 245/253 @50 612/636
If not, what other mods would be required besides, springs, lifters, carb, fuel pump?
Thanks

Ray - That's the cam I have in my chevelle and wifes camaro. Pulls good to 6300 RPM, maybe even higher but havented wanted to! We also have 1.8 roller rockers. I kinda wish I went withe the next bigger one though. We are at a very high corrected altitude, so if your at lower elevations it may be different.

Ray,

what are your goals? why looking for upper end power?

Is this in a lightweight chevelle?

Carb is fine. Just for example I run 125 mph with a box stock 850 pulling barely any measurable vacuum.

Thanks for the input. My goal is to have a reliable street car that runs high 11's. The car seems to run out of steam around 5K. It's not horrible but I would think a cam swap would be fairly easy and would be well worth the effort. Just not sure how big I should go. I'd rather not make any head modifications $$ at this time. I'm also concerned with manifold vacumm for power brakes. I'm pulling about 15" at idle now and the brakes work fine. The car is all steel w/ac so I would guess it's pretty heavy for a Chevelle.
BTW 70_Chevelle, the Camaro and Chevelle look Awesome!
