Wondering what success you have had with one of the newer carbs,on a Chevy 350, w/mild cam, Edle HR, headers, for street use? We are looking to upgrade the old Roc QJ and get a little more performance. What has worked for you?

On a 350 I have had good luck with the 670 Holley Street Avenger.

It's hard to beat a well tuned Q-Jet on a mild street small block.
If it were me I'd send your carb to Sean at SMI and have him do his "Magic" to it. He will total go through your carb and "tune it" specifically to your car / setup.
I had Sean do Stage 1 mods on a Q-jet for my daily driver 84 C20 Suburban. No problems at all. Drives great! Give him a call, his price is very reasonable.

I have a Q-Jet on my driver SS 454 Sta. Wgn. 700R4 O.D. and a 3:08 12 Bolt. on the I-State 454 turns 1950 RPMs at 75 MPH. Gets 19.46 MPG.
P.S. The Q-Jet is a rebuild from A-Zone $ 115.00 and an old core.
May be worth a try???

For a street driver, stick with the Q-jet and get it tuned, you'll be happier in the long run. The Q-jet is used on 10 second Super Stocks in NHRA so they have way more performance than the average street car uses.

A properly tuned q-jet can out perform a holley 670 vac or 750 vac ,send your tired q-jet to Sean as mentioned above and tell him Scott from t/chevelle sent you.
But stay away from the autopart store q-jte,many of them run like crap (not all) and they are calibrated to fit 100's applications so stay away.
Sean Murphy/SMI.COM will calibrate it exactly for your motor ,cam, gears, etc and it will run well out of the box.
If you the q-jet and dont care about getting it redyed/plated to look like new and just want a std rbld/ & calibration for your motor that can signifcantly reduce the cost so keep that in mind too as Sean will do it either way for you.

Thanks Guys! Sounds like the Q-Jet rebuild/recal is the way to go. I'll contact SMI and see what the turaround time is.
