Well, today (8/21/04), I went out to bremerton raceway for a little TNT. Was my first time to the track ever. Holy $#!t was it fun! My combo is this: TIRED 350, stock heads, unknown cam, compression test resulted in no cylinder above 135psi, performer intake, hei, holley 650 VS, unknown full length headers, summit 2-1/4" A-body exhaust (cut off after the mufflers), TH350, open 10 bolt with 2.73's  . Rides on new grand am tires 235 60r 14, chevelle weighs 3100 with out me ( I'm 190), stock rear suspension with kyb shocks, front has poly bushings, 1-1/4" sway bar that i disconnected, kyb shocks. I was totally expecting to not be able to even reach 15.5's. My engine is so tired I figured it would have trouble breakin the 16's. Well, overcast this morning, cool weather, but kinda foggy  First run was my best at 10am.

60' - 2.243
330 - 6.231
1/8 - 9.449
MPH - 76.64
1000 - 12.226
1/4 - 14.597
MPH - 94.75

graemlins/beers.gif Thats right, 14.5!!! WHOA, man was I surprised. I was so friggin happy.

2nd run was a 14.655, 3rd a 14.636...mph kept improving but never hit 95.....

All in all, im extremely happy with today, drag racing is THe most fun thing in the entire world!

I suggest everyone do it. Man! graemlins/beers.gif graemlins/hurray.gif graemlins/thumbsup.gif graemlins/waving.gif

Hey thanks guys, Yea i guess you're right about the 350, but it just seems so junkie. My #8 spark plug will have about 1/2 inch of crud caked on it about every month or so. i went through all the plugs last night and cleaned em out, redid the timing and carb settings, and found that the bushings on my distributer weights were completely gone, so I change weights to ones that would work. That changed my timing curve, but I guess for the better graemlins/clonk.gif ... graemlins/beers.gif

chevelle68malibu, nice times. Your car is simular to Slowpoke70's and mine we had thread here (http://www.chevelles.com/forum/ultimatebb.php/topic/4/21871.html) about 350 cars with old TH-350 trannys and open 2.73 ends. I'm glad to see a 14.5 that is my goal when I make it to the track but I think I will be in the 14.9 range.

I am glad to see all the 350 bu guys out in there 2.73's so I can see what things I can do first that others have tried out. Good Luck on your next trip.

You know, I have been reading about you and slowpokes' cars a little. One major thing I can see different about me and slowpoke is that I am shifting at 6k! Compare that to his 4500 and I think that might be what is netting me the good times. Also we were having pretty dang good weather that morning at right around sea level. Good luck with you guys too! graemlins/beers.gif

Hmmm, guess I might try out shifting higher next time out. That'll prolly be in a couple weeks, after I change to the 300-36 Holley manifold.
