should have clips on the wires, one goes to the battery positive, the other goes to the inside small post on the starter solenoid. If you see it well enough it's usually marked with an S. Watch out for the one on the solenoid, see that it doesn't flop over and contact a ground. Lots of arc welding type action then.

I have never liked remote starters and have always found it a whole lot easier to simply turn the engine over by hand. It gets really easy to do if you pull the spark plugs first.

you can break into the harness on the firewall where it turns and goes down to the starter. be careful not to hurt it or cut any of the strands. I used to use this big T-shaped pin gizmo, poke it through the purple wire, hook the button to the battery and the pin. If you smell anything or see smoke leaking from the wire, stop.

Using one of those ford solenoids sure makes it easy to operate the starter from the engine compartment.

Counting on the need to use a remote starter before I installed my latest engine, I ran a wire from the starter solenoid to a post on the firewall, sort of like a jumper wire. Now when I want to bump the engine w/o help, I clip my button wires on that post and the battery, and don't have to do the contort-my-big-hands-in-a-small-place routine anymore. Well, at least not for engine-bumping.
