Can someone describe (or post pics) of the e-brake cabling (what hangers go where) from their car? I think I'm missing one or more hangers from mine as the cables just don't look right where they are.

Thanks.

Nice job on the Sprint Cecil. I'd like to know about the e-brake setup too as I know mine isn't right.

The big hook goes on the crossmember and the 2 small hooks go in holes on the rear floorpan brace then to the connectors at the rear cables.

Ok, since there are no pictures and significantly less than 1,000 words, I need more info.

On the crossmember, there is a hole on the bottom directly under the tranny mount, and another on top on the passenger side. The big hook goes into the hole on top on the passenger side? That appears to be correct. The cable coming from the e-brake does not go over the crossmember, but under, right?

My car has been up on blocks for so long I'm sure there are plenty of things I'll be asking about as it goes back together.

The big hook goes on top of the crosmember on the passenger side, pretty sure the cable goes under the crossmember.

The cable from the front with the threaded end goes above the crossmember. The cable that goes to the rear axle actually sits about even with the crossmember when it is in the hook. You are correct about the hook it goes in the hole on the passenger side on top of the crossmember. The 2 small hooks go into the smaller holes on the rear floor support. My car is apart and I don't have the cable installed yet so I can't help out with a pic.

I don't have a pic either but you could be right. I'm too tired to go crawl under mine to look. I did look in the assembly manual since it was on my desk and it looked to be under it but it's not a great drawing.

Here are some pics of my 71 El Camino setup.

The smaller s-hooks go into holes in the floorboard braces on both sides, then the cable goes back to a retainer that holds the e-brake cable from the rear drum and the long cable you see in the pic.

The big hook may work where you have it but that's not where GM put it.

So there looks to be another hole in the crossmember that the big hook goes in to??

I'll have to check it out and change my setup.

I thought I did mine the way the assembly manual showed it. So much for detail. I'm gonna change it tonite. Thanks!

so, once you get the yellow tape on the correct side and the cable and tensioner "approximately" 3.7 inches from the extension housing...whats the tension spec?
i suspect it would be better to be too loose than too tight. last time i was under mine i reattached everything and now you've got me wondering. if i remember correctly i just tightened it to where i thought i was sure it wasn't engaging the shoes and there was some travel left at the pedal after fully engaging the brakes.

I just took the slack out of mine till it worked like it should, but here's how the manual says do it

I got mine all back together, although I had to do a little kludging to get the tension set.

Thanks all!
