I have a 69 Chevelle with a 468cu in, a 700R4 and a 10 bolt with 410 gears. When I push half throttle or more a loud squeeling noise (like a high pitch scream) seems to come from behind my head. When I let off the accelerator the noise subsides but I do hear a humming/moaning noise. Can it be the rearend going out or the tranny? The tranny was rebuilt less than 500 miles ago. The engine is pushing around 530hp at the flywheel (estimated).

Is it from a dead stop, and does smoke accompany it? Check your 1/4 panel for residue.

Is your belt slipping??? Does the car have A/C?

From a dead start it sounds good, it is only when accelerating after about 30mph. The car does not have A/C. I haven't noticed any smoke since the car has less than 500 miles on the motor and tranny. It runs really strong except for that noise.

Check to see if your PS belt is tight, mine was too big and loose, it made a very loud screaming noise... Just a thought, good luck.....

That was my thought. Belt squeal.
