so I finally got the 11:1 eddy performer rpm packaged 383 running in my chevelle today.. showing anywhere from 25 to 40psi of oil pressure, 13 volts at the"bat" terminal on the fuse block, and a fat chunky idle. Its a tad rich still according to my spark plugs , all black carboned up. she seems to run fairly well, haven't wound it up really yet past about 2000rpm, still going easy on the throttle to give the cam ample time to break in. problem is , she seems to load up or something. it will idle for a minute or so, then gradually decrease then finally croak out. kind of persnickity to start again after too.. do these vitals sound good? and what could be causing it to croak? any help is of course greatly appreciated! oh yes. I am running 94 octane fuel as well. obviously a little concerned about detonation, is there an easy way to avoid this besides heading to the strip to get some 104?

YOU BETTER BREAK IT IN LIKE ROBERT SAID.....or it wont live for long......94 octane will do.... adjust the carb.....but run it for 25 mins at 2500 rpms.... and shut it completly off dont let it idle or itll just eat the cam away!!!!!let it cool all the way down then start it up, time it, adj carb.......
u better break it in be 4 it is broken....

I didnt run it for long , and I have been priming the SH@#$ out of it prior to firing so..keep your fingers crossed for me boys! going to break it in right tonight, then drain the oil. hopefully it will be free of nice shiny shavings.
