Getting ready to install a Holley Blue pump and I know that painless wiring and MAD make relay kits for these but I wondered if I could save money using a generic auto parts store realy (as long as the amperage was okay). If anyone has a part number or any other info, please post it up.

A regular Bosch-style parts store relay will work just fine. The pump shouldn't pull more than 1/3 of the relay's rating.

Generic relay works fine. I've been running one for quite a while. I highly recommend you go with a genuine Bosch relay rather than the off shore knock-offs. I've had several knock offs fail on me, but never a Bosch. Here's a source:

I found a place online that has great prices and I bought everyting to rewire the entire chevelle for $200. Bosch-Style relays on fuel pump, water pump, fan, headlights, running lights, ignition.

I highly recommend you go with a genuine Bosch relay rather than the off shore knock-offs Thanks and I agree with overseas electronic items. I built a factory five Cobra and went through 3 fuel pump relays (uses a Mustang relay) and each time I figured I wired something wrong but I finally bought one that said "made in USA" and everything went fine from there.

Del City carries Hella Relays which are pretty good. Plus cheapest I have ever found them.

On a friend's old K5 Blazer, we used a F*rd truck fuel pump relay from Checkers, it's big, can handle the current fine, and it was fairly cheap, like $8 if I remember. They were out of the smaller ones, and the guy behind the counter was actually a gearhead, suggested it. graemlins/thumbsup.gif
