my cousin just got his car back together and just wonderin what u guys think it will run.

1972 pontiac lemanns
3800lbs w/driver
474 big block pontiac
engine dynoed at 610hp, 580ft lbs w/ over 500ft lbs throughout the rpm range
neil chance TC at about 4200 flash stall
manual valvebody th400
3.90 geard 9in w/ detroit locker
assuming good traction what do u guys think?

on a side note the motor is a bored and offset ground 455 with 9.8:1 compression. on the dyno it made 103% volumetric efficiancy. the cam is an older ultradyne cam(about 5 years) and with lash taken out has about .580 lift. the heads are edelbrock performer rpm that are HOGGED out by jim butler performance. he also uses a single plane holley intake and a old holley 950hp(without the air bleed adjusters)

Matt, I think Robert is dead on at 11.3x's to 11.4x's. I'm confused by the torque converter choice - that engine should be above 500 lbs tq as low as 2,500 rpm. I think it would be every bit as fast and far more streetable with a lower stall.

How soon will we know the real #'s?

we will know saterday. a couple years ago it ran 10.90s @122 while eating a thrust bearing, he has alway had probs with tracion but usually gets 1.60 '60s, the converter comes in about 300rpm before peak tourq. all he used to have were ssm bars, we put in drag shocks, trick front springs, jegs tubular upper and lower control arms with adj upper and some of those control arm braces. his 10.9x runs were on a $450 tci 4000 stall. hopefully the new $1200 neil chance converter will help out a little.

What will it run at Boise? Or at Sea level?

Assuming sea level...........
My Nova weighs 3500 w/driver
The 468 made 565hp 540tq on the dyno
4.10 gears with about a 4000 converter.

Best is 10.9 and 123mph
Very typical is 11 flat at 120

So, the Lemans weighs 300lbs more, but makes 45 more hp.....so me thinks it will hit the 10.8 range at 124 with optimum traction and good air.

I bet 11 flat most of the time.

All assumes the dyno numbers are good.

At Boise, in the 100 degree summer air? 11.3.

I have been to Meridian speedway, and wanted real bad to do spectator drags!
