as some of you know my engine is fouling (wet black in minutes) the 4 corner plugs and the center 4 are sheet white. i talked to my engine builder and he seems to think the S. Victor (having longer outer runners) is creating a stronger signal and robbing the 4 center cylinders. SOOOOO im looking at an intake swap. my engine wont ever see 6500 RPM. seems the airgap is the intake of choice round here for duel planes, but are there others. has anyone used the brodix hv1016? are there other large runner duel planes that work well? also my heads are ported to the felpro 1206 gasket, just looking, porting the airgap to the 1206 gasket looks like there wont be much metal left on the intake. ideas here? thanks Dave

I have a Dart Kool Can...It is very very simular to the rpm air gap(read identicle) They say it performs better than the rpm..I opened up the ports to a 1206 gasket..my first attempt..its a little shy of a 1206..there is plenty of meat there..I went to a super Vic...will never turn back

The only other dual plane I have heard anything else about is the Holley 300-36.

I have both the RPM and the Holley 300-36.I can tell you that the plenum area is bigger on the 300-36 and the ports are also bigger in stock configuration.I think the casting quality is MUCH better.

When I held up a Fel-Pro 1205 gasket up to the Performer RPM the port locations were slightly up and down, some corners rounded and some a bit squared, one of the ports was also a bit to far to the left and the gasket pertruded into the port slightly. It also seems like the Plenum location is a bit off in conjunction to the carb studs.I think it's poor quality controll.

The Holley has none of this.It is damn near perfect. It is a slightly darker color though. Not a bad thing, just different.

I was looking to purchase another intake and my engine machinest/head porter told me that the World Products Sportsman II made slightly more HP than the RPM.So I bought one.I haven't used it yet though.Shortly after that I stumbled into a killer deal for a used 300-36.I have yet to try it either.
I don't know jack about the Brodix Hv-1016.I can only find a couple of people who even mention it between about 5 boards.I have done a lot of searching.

The other intake to look at in the non air gap configuration is the Weiand Stealth.I haven't heard squat about it either.

In the Air Gap catagory;

I have heard much talk about the Performer RPM Air Gap.A lot of people have recieved bad castings with realy ugly parting lines.I don't have one so I can't say for sure.

You may also want to look at the Dart Kool Kan.Check it out

These are the cheapest prices that I can find on this manifold also.

I second Thrasher's comments I've also had an RPM and Holley 300-36. No comparison! The Holley is hands-down the better quality casting. I never ran them back-to-back on the same engine to compare perforamnce though.

Ok guys, i called my head porter last night to discuss the problem. heres what he said. first the super victor was not his favorite intake. he also asked if i was running a spacer, yes a 4 hole i replied. he said remove the carb and look through the spacer into the runners in the intake. the way the intake runners enter the plenuim there is a bias to the 4 corners. a 4 hole spacer directs the fuel with a running start right into the 4 outer runners. he said to replace it with a open spacer, this would give the intire intake a chance to work. this i did today and made my road test. it appears it has fixed the problem. will keep you updated. You are only spinning 6500 RPM and you have a Super Victor.
Damn dude.I would think that it would perform the best with no spacer.

Tell us some more about your engine.

I don't see anything that wrong.Prety good really.
The are only a couple of things that I would replace. The HR cam.I'd go with a solid or solid roller.I would also get a 950HP instead of the 750HP.

I would definately try swaping intakes.Maby try one of the Dart Kool Cans and if that wasn't better try the Motown.

But hey I'm a freak and I try to find out what works and what doesn't on my own.You never know who is blowing smoke up your a$$ ;)

Lots of people do swaps and reply its the best cause it ran .30 quicker.
What they fail to say is that the air was crappy on the first test and the new part was ran in mineshaft conditions.Or they made more than one change at the same time graemlins/clonk.gif

has anyone heard about the new dual-plane intake world products has out? its suppose to have the torque down low common to dual planes but give you all the oomph of a single plane upstairs.they claim you get the best of both worlds.

Thrasher, i have a 950hp car on the bench. once the 750hp is dialed in i may try the 950hp just for grins. a cam swap is doable and i may try this at some point, but im going to stay away from a solid of any kind. i may try one of UD Harolds hydro roller cams. Dave

sheetmetal-
I am sure you will like the 950HP.
No solids for you ay.
I'm sure you know about the better torque and power,so it must be you don't want to work on the motor that much.Right?...

thrasher. thats right. just wont a strong running engine that is reliable (within the confines of a performance engine). dont wont to have to work on it to drive it. hoping to turn 11.50s at some point, maybe, maybe not. somthing that sounds good, and looks decient.

you want to sell that super victor???? Id be very interested.
Also the intake your talking about is the new Motown World products intake its a highrise single plane that has some new runner design thats supposed to have awesome torque down low and make 30 more HP up top than any other intake on the market....supposedly
