We're working on one of these today (Borg and Beck Clutch).

Stock engine/bell housing/clutch fork.
We need a throw out bearing and cannot get the correct spec for its height. Any one know the different bearing lengths and which one would be correct for this assembly???

My McLeod catalog specs the adjustable T/O bearing for their B/B clutches. It's specs are short-1.58", medium-1.755" and long-1.93". For reference their short GM bearing is 1.225"

For this GM bearing previously mentioned, I am using a BCA 1705-C or Timken 614018. This is the shortest of those GM t/o bearings

Hi all.

So is the correct bearing length 1.58" for a standard Borg/Beck presure plate?

Based on what I see here:

http://napaonline.com/MasterPages/NOLMaster.aspx?PageId=430&CatId=8&SubCatId=7

I would say the short bearing would be correct.

So Gary,
Are you saying 1 5/8" ???

Thanks for the replies. I am trying to be sure on the exact measurement.

The ones listed there are the short ones, 1.272 or 1.255 according to their specs.

I think its time to call McLeod

After reading their web site info it looks like they want their #16505 bearing used but do not give the length so it has to be upwards of 1.58.
Will post after the chat.

Talked to McLeod today and they suggested the 1.58" one. We tried one at 1.625 and it was too long and would not allow any free play . Is it possible that we need to move the clutch pivot forward and use the 1.22 bearing. The pivot is at 4.75" from edge of ball to bell housing face.

Any suggestions????
