Is it a bad idea to compress springs and weld them in order to lower a car? I have heard of this being done but I don't know if it is an acceptable way to go about lowering a car.

Thanks.

I would use a 2 Inch Drop Spindle Kit or cut a little bit of the coil out at a time until you reach your desired height. Don't take too much out at a time. Take your time.
Hope this helps,

except for buying lowering springs, chopping the coils is the way to go- not only do you get a lower ride height, but it is also a little bit stiffer, as well.

Back in my lowrider days. any time I would weld on a spring, It would soon break at or around the weld. I wouldn't recommend it.
