Hey whats up can any one tell me if a 427 motor out of a 69 fire truck would be a good motor to build for my chevelle,Not sure if it runs but is not siezed. :confused: Thanks Ken

Better check, but I'd bet it's a tall deck motor...not really desirable for performance usage unless your gonna stick a real long stroke in it, and then your gonna have clearance issues down at the pan rail and bottom of the bores.

Thanks for that info Idid not know there was a differance in tall or short block

How do you tell the differance in a tall or short block 427?

Top water pump bolt hole is about 1/4" below the deck on a short deck block, closer to 3/4" on a tall deck. Also, all of the factory tall decks I've dealt with had dual thermostats, can't mistake that thermostat housing once you've seen it. Kinda looks like something you might need Viagra's help with, if you catch my drift.
