: goal achieved 10.98 @ 124....3.07 gears and 150 shot
mike1985 Oct 17th, 04, 4:02 PM My last trip showed a 1.55 60' on the 100 shot, and i needed to soften that up.
Well i found away to soften the 60' up. I had 900 lbs of pressure and didn't prime the system. I also waited till 30' out to turn it on.
here's the #'s
1.644-60
7.036-1/8 ET
99.41 -1/8 MPH
10.982-1/4
124-1/4.
Goal achieved with a hyd cam of 460 lift. 218 @.050. This car could run 10.50's, but i would need a roll bar and a D-44 before pushing it any harder.
Pat you suggested the perfect cam for my app. thanks again. graemlins/hurray.gif

-SS454- Oct 17th, 04, 4:11 PM your track let you go 10.9s without a roll cage?
Awesome times for a very mild cam. Whats the rest of yours specs?

sschevellefan Oct 17th, 04, 5:07 PM wow great numbers. what`s the specs of the motor? what car is it?
mike1985 Oct 17th, 04, 10:07 PM Thanks guys,
For some reason they haven't said anything yet..the guy in the ticket tower said ...this thing runs good ....that wouldn't of been my choice of words. I need the better D-44 rear end and a roll bar and i believe a 10.50 could be had, but that'll have to wait till another time.

SILVERSS454 Oct 18th, 04, 12:00 AM Mike...THAT is impressive!
Congrats on doing LOTS with less!
Proof that there is definately more than one way to get there...
70_FathomBlueMalibu Oct 18th, 04, 1:03 AM What is the race weight? Those are great numbers, btw!
Cammin1 Oct 18th, 04, 5:06 AM NICE TIMES graemlins/thumbsup.gif
Pat Kelley Oct 18th, 04, 10:41 AM Man, that impressive. I'm glad the cam worked out. Amazing what a small cam will do. Even the no-shot times are impressive. I bet she idles pretty smooth. I'm surprised, too about getting by without a roll bar.
mc71454 Oct 18th, 04, 10:50 AM Nicely Done Mike !!!
2k3Chevelle468 Oct 18th, 04, 11:46 AM Darn nice! graemlins/beers.gif
mike1985 Oct 18th, 04, 12:48 PM thanks guys.
race weight is 3200 lbs.
Pat the car idles like my stock 2000 Ford Taurus. Very nice.
baddbob71 Oct 18th, 04, 1:31 PM That's very impressive! Small cam, nice flowing heads, small shot, highway gears, cheap parts!!!! And more streetable than most 12 second cars I bet! Very impressive!
baddbob71 Oct 18th, 04, 1:33 PM What rpms is the nitrous coming on at? and off? Just curious? Bob
mike1985 Oct 18th, 04, 9:07 PM baddbob,
On the 100 shot i turn the nitrous on right off the starting line from idle. I basically use a WOT switch and that's it. However on the 150 shot and the weak rear end i turned it on at the 30' mark, probably 300-3500.
The car crosses @ 4600 on motor , 5100 on 100 shot and 5300 on the 150. I shift at 5K on all nitrous passes.
As for streetable...well if it's there's no snow on the street i drive it year round I will drive it if there's snow piled 10ft on each side of the road, as long as the street is plowed ;)
Texas70 Oct 18th, 04, 9:53 PM Wow  Looking at your combo, I guess I'll need to plan on a roll cage and parachute for my car !!!
Congrats on a very quick car. graemlins/thumbsup.gif
mike1985 Oct 19th, 04, 3:42 PM I hope you do. But remember my car weighs 3200 with driver.
i could use more gear and more nitrous for that matter, but NO roll bar here. Not for now anyway.
I remember anothewr guy at our track last year that ran almost every weekend ( the tower called him by name when he came to the line) and he ran 11.25 @ 122 and they never told him he needed a bar ???? It's definatly questionable as to how safe it is if something were to go wrong.
Pat Kelley Oct 19th, 04, 4:13 PM Mike, I'd tune for max mph before changing gears. Then you'll have a better idea of the ratio you need. There still could be more in what you have. NO2 makes lots of torque and too low of a gear could hurt. I'd bet your combo wouldn't want more than 3.55's maybe 3.73's.
mike1985 Oct 20th, 04, 4:31 PM Pat, i'm seeing that more and more. For instance i let my friend drive the car that very same day. I told him to leave it in drive ( shifts at 4K) and turn the bottle on once he passes the 60' mark.
I don't actually know when he turned on but the darn car went 11.82 @121MPH..talk about a freight train on the big end.
I would go no more than a 3.45.. but i do like the 3.08 for hyw driving.
Pat Kelley Oct 20th, 04, 6:34 PM That's a lot of mph. I run 11.60's at 114.8x mph. That kind of mph could win a lot of races smile.gif .
