: any changes to pump gas in the northeast?
ericrickster Apr 25th, 04, 10:55 AM i'm building a 10.74:1 548" motor to run on the edge of 93 octane
with tight quench [.040] and a good sized roller i would expect to have no problems
iv'e heard some talk about 91 octane being the best available soon
will true 93 octane be avail???
thanx
Slow66 Apr 25th, 04, 11:00 AM I know Sunoco here in CT still has 93 octane. They used to have 94, but axed that a few months ago. Most stations in my area still have 93 though. Do you run alum. heads? If so, with a big enough roller, you might even be good on 91.
ericrickster Apr 25th, 04, 11:24 AM orange, the heads are aluminum,i'm just hoping 93 stays around for added protection
doggy69 Apr 25th, 04, 12:55 PM Haven't heard of that but my 10.9-1 540 consumed 93 also so we are in the same boat...what kinda numbers are you looking for?
jr71c Apr 25th, 04, 3:58 PM 91 is the highest in southern ca :(
soccerguy045 Apr 25th, 04, 5:23 PM Why would they not carry 93 anymore and just run 91?
Opposite here, we have 87, 89, and 93...hardly anywhere has 91.
427L88 Apr 25th, 04, 9:31 PM Well, it's changing. And will continue to change. The local availability and overall availability of premium (93/94) octane fuel. Overshot my 8.3 dcr target and now at the ragged edge of 8.6 and worries about 93/94 availability. Motor would run hot retarded back.
Sunoco station down the road is 93 now, not 94. :( Picked up one bad batch of Mobile 93 and I DID NOT like what I heard.
We ( WNY) dont have 91 either , 87, 89 93 is typical.
BlueSS454 Apr 25th, 04, 10:51 PM You can get 93 at all pumps in NJ, DE, PA, and MD. Sunoco also carries 94 at the pumps. There are also certain Sunoco stations that have 98.
mr 4 speed Apr 26th, 04, 9:36 AM 93 still available in CT..no more Ultra 94 though graemlins/sad.gif
427L88 Apr 26th, 04, 10:41 AM I wonder why they canned the Ultra Chris, was it the 10% ethanol that made it 94 instead of 93? I have to check the pump and see if the 10% ethanol sticker is still next to the 93.
BK72SS Apr 26th, 04, 2:18 PM All our stations here in MD have 87 89 and 93 octane, there isn't a Sunoco nearby but I'm told that it has 94 octane. Both my Chevelle and Camaro run fine on the 93 but when I finally get my big block in my Chevelle it might be different but that is easily a few years down the road. graemlins/sad.gif
doggy69 Apr 26th, 04, 8:21 PM Blue where is NJ is there 98 at a station?
1Fast65Elky Apr 27th, 04, 5:57 AM i heard on a different forum about gas ppl use. one guy had mentioned he got his gas from the airport, but you can only buy it and put it into a gas container they wont fill a car heheh. sayd the stuff is 104 octane
Bad Rat 414 Apr 28th, 04, 8:24 AM I used to fuel planes some years ago. Avgas comes in several octane ratings I used to use 100LL (low lead). My car ran great. I usually mixed it 50/50 with the gas.
