I hear guys on this board talking about how a .1 improvement in 60' time will net .15 - .2 in the 1/4. I'm not disputing this, but I am wondering why it hasn't been my experience. Last season I made a 12.23 @ 111.51 pass with a 1.93 60'. Made some changes and ran a 12.01 @ 112.76 with a 1.74 60'. In my case a .19 improvement in 60' netted only a .22 improvement in the 1/4 mile time. Judging by the trap speed, the car was also making more power on the second run. Is there something wrong with my car, or am I just a bad driver?

could have been the weather, weather will have a more profound effect on 1/4 mile et then 60ft.
you need to keep a log of your runs and you'll start to see how the weather effects it.

Totally agree, it's the weather at play here. Two weekends ago I ran my best ever 60' of 1.46 (on several passes), although my 1/8 mi was only 6.86@99. My best ever 1/8 pass is 6.75 @102, but that was with a 1.50 60'. Difference? DA of apx -1,000 vs. a DA of ~3,500. In fact, it's not unconceivable that your car will 60' better in worse air if your suspension/tires can't take the hit with the power the car makes in better air ;) You've heard of some people pulling out timing on launch to get their car to hook. This is the same concept only Mother Nature is pulling out power for the whole run.
Something to think about.

Thats where all my gains are nowadays,I think she's maxed out. If it hooks I go high 11's easily,if not its low 12's. I havent had a 60ft under 1.70 since the drag radials from last year wore out, I can't seem to get the M/T's to hook as well as the Hoosiers or Drag radials. I did have a 1.70 last sunday and went 9.99 on the 1000ft track which equates to 11.89 in the 1/4 mile with my car...1.9 seconds is what mine will do between 1000ft and 1320ft.
