Pat...

Just read the Dave Shultz passed away on Oct. 18 of a heart attack. You hung out with him quite often didn't you? Is this the same Dave Shultz that drivew that blue buick I think with the snorkel hood?

Yeap, Dave passed away. According the the autopsy, he had an abdominal aneurism that burst. I did a bit of research and the survival rate is extremely low. I had seen him the previous Saturday and, while he hadn't been feeling well, he didn't seen anywhere near death. I stopped by on Monday to bring over some info about the PSCA race the next Saturday, and found the whole family there. I was totally shocked when they told me. He was a great guy who took as much pleasure from others success as his own. He will be missed.

Thats too bad...he was a good racer. I never really talked to him, but knew you hung out with him at the races. In National Dragster it stated that he died of a heart attack, but that doesn't seem to be quite correct.

Hope his family/friends are doing as good as can be expected in times like this.

They're doing OK. The shock is setting in since there were a lot of people around for the first week. Now they are without him and have time to think about it. I'll be going over there this week and I check again on the cause.

Sorry to hear about that Pat. Must be tough to lose a friend.

I assume this is the same Dave that I got my engine from? If I'm right, I only talked to the man a few times, but he gave me Grade A+++ service.

Yes, Enrique, the same guy. He was well liked by all his customers. He never tried to sell you something you didn't need. I've seen him talk people out of having their engine rebuilt if it wasn't necessary. He may have lost a sale but gained a loyal customer.

Well, Godspeed Dave.

Maybe I'll keep the 350 block around and build a stroker instead of the 400 I thought about, since he was trying to talk me into a stroker the first time around but I didn't have the $$. It'd be nice since he gave me a nice '72 Camaro high nickle block at no extra charge! graemlins/thumbsup.gif
