: Major job for major speed company.
1bad69+70camaro Sep 3rd, 07, 12:36 AM Yes i have been called upon to do a rotisserie resto on a 70 firebird. It will be cloned into 70 trans am lucy blue wit white stripe. Car will have blue interior and will sport a LSX engine. Dont want to reveal too much as far as engine but it will be WICKED! Car will be done for a major lsx engine parts manufacturer (spelling). Dead stock but stunning body and paint are mandatory. If anyone is interested i will document from day one on here with lots of pics. I know its not a chevelle but there will be metal shrinking and stretching, panel alignment, tool usage, poly blocking, primer blocking, por 15, rust prevention, welding and of course paint and buffing. When the deal is signed i will post very shortly and periodically on progress. This will show in general what it takes to build a show car, and i mean show car! Project is estimated to take 3-4 months. I will be doing after firebird a 69 chevelle also.
furball8994 Sep 3rd, 07, 12:46 AM SWEEET!! Keep us posted.
sevt_chevelle Sep 3rd, 07, 12:49 AM I was excited til I read por15.:)
Sounds like a great deal and an even better business card!!!
Look forward to the pictures...Eric
rubadub Sep 3rd, 07, 1:00 AM I would also like to have a look at the whole process. Sounds really interesting.
Just one question, how many people are going to be working on it to get it done in that time span?
Thanks Rob
Uppster Sep 3rd, 07, 7:01 AM I would rather wait for the Chevelle. Are there no Firebird sites?
chevl71 Sep 3rd, 07, 8:53 AM Restoration is restoration. Doesn't matter what the car is. I think it's a great idea!

Performance years is the only one save for nastyz28.com which is mostly camaros. I will post over there also. Performance-years i dont think is much interested in because of the lsx. My client feels this also. They are very biased toward the pontiac derived engine although it has been explained the lsx is a corporate engine.
baloo28 Sep 3rd, 07, 9:02 AM I'd like to see updates also. Of course, my resto will take more than 10 times as long (budget) I'm sure I can use many ideas.
Of course, I can't wait to see the 69 Velle as it's what I have<G>

Something wrong with por? Is there something better? I am only using on the underside for rust prevention over epoxy. I have done this before with very good results. Red oxide will be the stock factory look unless client changes mind. Car is in good shape save for a couple holes in toe board, trunk, and driver quarter becuase of collision due to me doing donuts :). Rockers, doors, roof, fenders are in good shape but i am sure i will find some scaries.
sevt_chevelle Sep 3rd, 07, 10:29 AM badcamaro, all Ill say is that am not a big fan for the POR like products.
Not trying to bust balls or question methods, just saying am not a fan.
Peace am out...Eric
3 Chiefs Sep 3rd, 07, 12:14 PM Yes, I would enjoy your progress too. I think the folks at PY forums would also enjoy. They have a section on non Pontiac motors in Pontiacs but the body work will be found useful by all those f-body fans. I'm building a GTO and I get a ton of my info right here from the Chevelle guys.

Freddy Mercado Sep 3rd, 07, 4:23 PM Pictures, we need pictures!!!!
1bad69+70camaro Sep 3rd, 07, 4:40 PM hold your horses guys, pics and info are coming as soon as i get contract.
1bad69+70camaro Sep 3rd, 07, 9:09 PM My client prefers to remain nameless for the first month but has nothing against me posting the resto. Should i remain anonymous also? I mean its a pretty big deal to me but i have already gotten a couple emails asking who i am doing the car for from some weird people, one being a major head manufacturer. Seems like i am in misson impossible or secret service! Oh well here goes.
sevt_chevelle Sep 3rd, 07, 9:37 PM Another forum I visit is nothing but high end metal working. Lots of top notch people some who have built cars that were in the Riddler constant.
Some people/companies WANT to remain nameless until the car unveiled. Same goes for pictures. Some allow very minor pictures, some allow NO pictures at all.
I would contact your MAIN company find out THEIR ground rules. Also ask if they can supply a list of other companies that will be donating to the build.
Personally I would NOT screw a chance like this because I posted some pictures on the net. Sounds like a great way to make a name for yourself in a very large sea. Thread the water lightly...Eric
rubadub Sep 3rd, 07, 9:48 PM I've been wondering where you live, how old you are, we know nothing about you. Out with it.:)

I live in ky and am really a nobody. I do however as quality work as humanly possible. I am ASE master certified in collision and gas engine mechanics. I have all ICAAR modules including estimating. Just started doing major restos for the public. I did however work in north carolina charlotte area working on some celebrity cars and show cars. I called my old boss and i think he put a bug in this guys ear but cant confirm it. I also have experience in the lambo fiberglass replica clones including those from warlock designs. I am 33 years old. I grew up in my uncles body shop who did alot of custom colors for boats. i do airbrush occasionally and am clutch on the airbrush.com forums.8993
