Rotella has been recommended for Flat Tappet cams but is it needed of roller cams also? I've used it for initial couple hundred miles on my cam so far and STP just to be safe.

Bryan59SEC asked about oil and no one answered.
As always your recommendations are appreciated.

I don't know if it's "needed", but since I buy Rotella by the drum for my trucks, I use it in my cars also.

I have a 540 with a Comp solid roller and Red Zone lifters. 240# on the seat and 650+# over the nose. So far, no probs at all and I drive the wheels off it on the street.

you could also use the old dello CI rated. It's great stuff and use it on all my rigs. Even my track bike that still showed fresh hone marks on the cylinder after 6 yrs of hard service. That sold me on the stuff, but also the fact that I have a car with over 500,000 on the odometer that still runs like a champ. I'm skeptical of the newer cj rated oils though.

Thanks for asking again-----------only a couple of suggestions on the 'other' board I play on.

Just went ahead and used my normal QS 10-40 and half a bottle STP
Just got the engine in this morning---hope to start it in the morning--
IF the weather co-operates
So far today----weather has been VERY annoying, but at least I have all the under the car stuff done.
AC comp, carb, s/p wires is all that is left.
