I have a th400 tranny that i recently installed, problem is that the tranny leaks fluid at the rear seal and front left side in the gear selector area.. i have done a test with baking soda covered the whole bottom of pan with it, and all sides, the area im worried about more is where the gear selector is at, does this have an o ring or something like that, i bought a reseal kit for it but never thought it would leak from there, the gear selector is where the gear linkage is hooked up to, right where the bracket bolts on to the tranny. ps: i have put brand new pan seal..and still leaks..i did put some rtv silicone, and worked good to keep it from leaking it is just in that corner where it looks like it comes down and leaks to the floor.

There is a seal there at the shifter shaft seal. It should always be replaced on rebuild. It takes a special tool to do it with the pan on the trans. It is about $15 for the tool and makes it an easy job.

Jake,
I may have the same problem, can you tell me the name of the tool, or where I can get one?
Thanks again,
Dane

Me too Jake. I've tried installing a new seal but the OD of the seal semed like it was small. I tried to use RTV to take up and slight gap. No good....
What the correct seal? Where do I get it and what tool mdo I need to use?
Can you supply what we need?
Troy.

I have LOTS of the seals.
The tool I have is a KD Tools brand IIRC.
Here's a similar one:

Troy,
ANY trans shop should have them. If you can't get one locally PM me your address and what you need.
