I'm ready to order my 17" TTII's on my '66 Chevelle. I don't see an exact match to my car in the data base. I have a 3" drop all around:
Front: 2" drop spindle w/1" drop spring
Rear : 3" drop springs
Rear end is a '72 12 bolt so I have an extra inch of width.
I'm looking at ordering:
Front: 17x8 w/4.5" BS and 235/45/17 tires
Rear: 17x9.5 w/6" BS and 275/40/17 tires
I want the tires to tuck inside the fenders with no rub. Do you think I'm going to have rubbing problems on the front? Should I go with the 17x7' in front to avoid any rub while turning on a tight radius?
Thanks for the input!

The fronts will fit great, the rears should too. About the same set-up as on my '66, but I use the factory 12 bolt. Not sure about the difference in length? The rears on mine are 17x9.5 with 5.25" of backspace with the same tire you are looking at. Hope this helps some.

I have a 66 convertible I have eibach lowering springs supposed to be 1" I think it is more like 2" and 1 " drop spindles. I run 17x8 with 245-45-17 on the front with a 5" backspace then a 1/2" space to push the wheels back out to clear the brakes so its like a 4 1/2 backspace I do get some wheel rub in the front I had to grind the humps off the inner fender and use a buttonhead bolt they clear most of the time but occansionly on a good bump they rub if I am turning. In the rear I run a moser 12 bolt stock size for the car with 17X9 with a 5" backspace and 275-40-17 tires no clearance issues back there I think I could even fit a little more tire I am 1/2" from the fender lip and 1" off the framerail on the inside. I am considering raising the car 1" to eliminate the front tire rub but I kinda like the way it sits. good luckhttp://www.chevelles.com/forums/my documents

Thanks for the great input guys! Looks like I might get some front tire rub. I'll need to double check my measurements again. But Looks like the 6" back spacing on my rears is going to be perfect.
I'll let you guys know how it works out!
Hey! Any pics of your convertible?

Here's 66SSFan's car. mine will sit more like the second pic. You can see why I'm concermed with the backspacing.

I agree on the rear, should be great... I ran 17X9.5 with 275/40-17s and PLENTY of clearance... I had 5.5" BS, but then my stock 12-bolt was 1/2" shorter (so your 6" BS should offset that...
I ran the car with 275/40-17 up front with no rubbing... I do agree about the button-head screws, because that was where my car use to rub (about 3"-4"+ lowered in front with 265-50/15) on tight turns (parking, etc)...

On the front of my 66 Elky I have 18x8 (used to have 17x8) both had 4.75" back space. Plenty of room and nothing ever rubbed.

I don't have 17's but I do have a 66 with 1" drop and 275/60/15's on a 15/8 wheel with 5" of BS. I have a 70 chevelle rear in mine which is 1" wider than a stock 66 rear. My wheel and tire are perfetly centered.
5.75" BS would be perfect on a 17X9.5 wheel, while a 6" BS may require a 1/4" spacer to center the wheel. Measure twice, order once! Just my $0.02.

Mondo454, that is the perfect stance.
It looks like it's time to order a set of Eibachs.
