help me out if you guys can- a friend has a 70 malibu but has chevelle badges. it is a highly optioned car but the build sheet says its a 2bbl./ he said someone told him it was a chevellabu?? or is it just a clone?? anyone ever heard of one of these? thanks

All Malibus were Chevelles. Chevelle was the base model, Malibu was an option package on the Chevelle. Just like the SS option on 69 and later Chevelles. So just like all SS's were Chevelles but not all Chevelles were SS's, all Malibus were Chevelles but not all Chevelles were Malibus. Hope I made that confusing enough.:D

Then in '69 they came out with 300 Deluxe and Malibu SS396 cars. Then there were COPO Chevelles that had no idea what they were. Confused now. Then in '70 they had SS396 Chevelles that weren't 396s but actually 402 CID. Enough to give a guy a headache. We won't even get into 400 small blocks and 400 big blocks.
