I am building a BBc 454 9.5 comp.pump gas for footbreaking brackets only- I was hoping to get some good advice on selecting a camshaft! Car is 3400lbs. 410 gears glide and 4800 stall 8 inch converter - Have square port heads and solid roller setup-Have everything but cam-How fast could I go and what cam do you folks know works great! Sorry for the long post-Happy to be here too!

CompCams 288AR (old listing) would fit your combo for 9.5 comp. with .623 lift, 288 duration. With appropriate heads, carb, slicks, should slip into the 11's! Goodluck! :D

FootLooseJoe,

How about a Lunati 502A5LUN? It is 286/296 at .020, 255/263 at .050, .685/.680 valve lift, and 107 LSA. It will work with your 9.5:1 CR, although it also works all the way to 13:1. The 4.10s and 4800 SS are just what it needs, and you probably will NOT run 11s with it.....
It will need a good fuel system, 1/2" fuel line, and at least 2 Holley Blues, or some sort of 250 gph pump.
It runs!

Or two steps below, the A3, will give you a shooch more compression and low end, custom on a 107-108 LSA of course.

Not Harold but,,,,
With Harolds cam & your combo with a decent intake & carb low 11's hi 10's should be in your future ;)
I would prefer to see more compression like 10.0-10.5 if you can & you should still be fine with pump gas.
At 3400 lbs you only need about 500 engine HP to run 120 or so. The et is up to you :D
