here is a little gem from msnbc with a boost from Hagerty insurance. Check out the slide show option. It amazed me that they claim the Corvair would burst into flames if struck from the rear! (Of course the gas tank was in the FRONT of the car.)

Well I owned a 1971 Vega GT, my brother bought in new and I got it from him a year later. And no way was it underpowered. I could do 110 mph in it and take down many a small block chevy with it. It would smoke the tires in first, chirp them in 2nd and 3rd. Of course it burned oil at the rate of 1 quart per 100 miles! I tried to blow the engine up by over revving it. I revved it to over 8000 rpm, only thing that happened it is felt like it got a boost of power after 7000.
