You and me both :D Sweet pics, Brian! How much air pressure were you running in the rear tires? Looks like they could use a little more?

Try 14 next time out ;) I ran a MT 3055S ET Drag religously for the past 3-4 years and those tires always worked best with the pressure between 14-15lbs depending upon conditions (weather and starting line). The same was true for the Hoosier D05 compound tires I used prior to that (although they weren't as consistent as the MTs on my car).

Brian .....watching your posts and results with interest , Thanks for sharing results ....... as I understand it you running basically stock type rear suspension but moved the upper control arm mounting point down.correct

Are you running an anti sway bar ....like an HRP ?

10" wheels with 10.5 ET drags in rear of stock 66 ??? Be interested to know how to make that work .......I 'm hoping to have no clearance isues with same tires and 9" wheels with 5" BS in my 66

Bill,

I believe that Brian has an HR Parts Bar and has "Coke Bottled" his fender a bit. This coming from a previous thread. Pardon me if I'm wrong Brian. I am curious what the BS on Brians 10" rims are also. They look like the same ProStars that I have. According to my calculations, to have any chance of using a 10" rim, a 6" bs would be necessary. None of Weld Wheels offerings are in inch sizes, they are 3.5", 4.5", 5.5", etc.....

From my experience, a 15" X 9" with 5.5" back space, would be the ideal size rim. I wish that Weld offered a ProStar in that size. I had MT ET Street Radial 325/50-15's (28" X 11") on 15" X 8" 5.5"BS on my '66, but a 1/2" spacer was necessary. My wheel opening lip and the trim have been cut back to the trim screws. The tire fit within the well, occasionally rubbing the passenger side tail pipe, which I clearanced.

I had used these same rims with 275/60-15's (28" X 9") without the spacer. I'd heard/read that 5.5"bs wasn't possible because of shock mount interference. Not true, these fit perfectly well on the inside. In fact, too far in, there was like a 1"-1.5" space between the tire and wheel well. I didn't like the look. I will say that, on one occasion, I switched my street tires, L60-15 (also listed as 28" X 9.x" x=between .2"-.5" depending on publication) MT Indy Profile S/S's, from their 15" X 8" 4.5"bs wheels to the 5.5bs rims. They rubbed the inner rear corner of the well, mainly because these bias ply tires aren't as "rounded" where the sidewall transitions to the tread.

Thanks Rowdy .......stretched fenders explains alot ,I have Weld Aluma Stars 15x9
5" BS still in the box but based on my 8" wheels with 4 .5 BS should fit although expect some lip triming may be needed with MT ET Drag 28 x10.5

I only have 8" rims right now, I am wanting to go to a 10" w/ 5.5 BS.
I could not fit a 10" rim with the 30" tall tires due to sidewall bulge but I have a ton of room on each side with the 28's.

On the wheel wells.....I moved the body mount from inside the wheel wells, to between the frame and the trunk support. Removing the ear off the frame and inner fender that sticks into the wheel area.

I am runnning a 4.10 gear, 4400 edge converter, shifting at 6500.
And yes I do have a HRP rear anti-roll.

I can tell you from first hand experience that a 15"x9" wheel with 5.5" of BS won't work on my '66. I have these wheels on my car now and the shock was rubbing the inside of the wheel, hence the reason I added a 1/2" spacer on each side. I do have C-clip eliminators on my axles. I had to trim off the axle housing flange (.5"-.750" IIRC) to install the C-clip eliminators. Adding the C-clip eliminators may have changed the dimension from the factory location.

Yes .......that is the same with me I dont see where 5.5 would work for me (Brian moving those mounts is a great idea ) For a stock wheelwheel 66 appears 9" is the max withthe 10.5 tire .I centered my rear when I had frame off hopefully 5" works for me .

Same Edge 4400 converter as me, I may still have some hope of going quicker.
