something like a 289-17770? 3 inch flow, but is a big muffler which would help reduce the sound?
thanks

Yes, the bigger the case, the quieter the sound. That's a 20", you can only go as big as 22" Magnaflow 12578, and I do believe Dynomax also has a 22" case, BBMike runs 'em.

I've never heard the 3" version, but the 2 1/2" sound real stealthy. They used to call them Hemi Super Turbos. The larger diameter will make them louder than the smaller unit. Flow is around 350 cfm for the 2 1/2". Just make sure you can fit them under your ride.

I have seen one car run at the strip with those Hemi Super Turbo's.
Damn that thing was quiet.Standing close to the starting line you couldn't hear him doing a burn out or going down the track.
It seemed that everything drowned it out.
It was prety much the same way in the pits.

I have a set of Dynomax Ultraflow ovals on my sbc'd S-10 and it has a pretty mellow tone to it.....alot quieter than the old Blowmaster I used to have. Oh and it's a straight thru design too. graemlins/thumbsup.gif

I used to run the 3" Dynomax turbos on my 70 Chevelle. 3" system all the way to the back of the car. Wit ha mellow 454, it would get int the high 11's. Pretty quiet too. Ran just as good as it did with Flowmasters. But That was way back when Flowmaster was just starting out.
A buddy is running the Dynomax 3" turbos on his 70 Buick GS455. It runs 12.4 @ 110 uncorked, and 12.4 @ 108 with the exhaust system. Also has an X pipe, so it's real nice and quiet.
On my Nova, I went with Spin Tech mufflers that came with the DR Gas X pipe setup. Even with tail pipes they were too loud for my ears....so I cheated and bought a pair of the Dynomax 12" long by 3" ID race mufflers and sectioned my tailpipes to insert them. Can't even see em, and it mellowed the sound just right. We have a DB limit after 10pm on street legal nights....and my car reads 88db on the meter at full throttle. Measured 50 ft from the track at the 1/8 mile mark. Usually all the high HP cars have to quit after 10! So I get left to race all the Hondas....
You will like em! I just hope the 20" version fits.

I run the 20" case dynomax hemi super turbos on my car, 3" full exhaust, exits just under the rear bumper.
On a dyno, they made the exact same HP number as a TINY and much louder spin tech muffler.
They are a very quiet muffler, and if you add an x-pipe like I did, you can barely hear it. Makes for awesome cruising..
My car is not a rocket ship, but its not a slouch. IMHO this dyno test proved the dynomax hemi super turbo 20" case 3" muffler to be good for more than 550hp with no appreciable loss. (mandrel bent 3" system).
Just so you know, this is the same muff I have run on the car since day one, and I have had to replace both mufflers (one when one broke, the other when we were doing this latest cam swap and saw fiberglass coming out of the back of the muffler. But it took a long time to blow the mufflers-- so not a big deal, they are reasonable priced anyway).
