I'm still sorting out my new drag car and one of the things I need to establish is what size tires I can or should run. In order to establish what Diameter is available I need to also select a width. I have stock sheetmetal quarters and innner wells and I'm running a stock width 12bolt. What wheel backset and tire width can I run. It currently has 9.5 wide hoosiers on it and it looks like I can go to 10". Does someone have a way to go wider w/ the stock sheetmetal and diff.????? Thanks for your help.

I have 15x8.5" rims on the back of my 66 with a 5" backspace with a 275/60 tire I might be able to fit a little more tire but its close to the quarter now and 5" backspace I think is the limit without moving the shock mount. I was thinking about rolling the lip also.

I'm running some 29" X 15" Hoosier Quick Time Pros. They have a 11.9 inch section, and I'm running them on 8 inch steel wheels with 3.75 inch backspacing. I massaged the inner lip a bit and it's a tight fit, but no rub. They have a 10" tread. I recommend that you use a wheel with a 4.5 - 5.0 inch back spacing for some additional breathing room.

I have some 275X60X15 on mine 67 with 5" of back spacing. It just fits without rolling the lip. If you roll the lip you can fit 295's back there.

for a good stance and ride hieght, a 28x10 or a 29x9 will fit, 12.0 section is the largest with no clearance, rubbing the frame, and fender well on turns at a 88" circumference(28" dia),with the correct width rearend. The larger diameter tires at 11.0+ inches begin to contact the rear body mount.

Most 66-67 with 11.0 tread at 29 diameter are raised in the rear for added clearence.
