After going with a solid roller cam, my 454 has really picked up a lot of torque, but now I noticed that after I run it hard, there is a coating of oil on the passenger side wheel well, and all over the fuel pump (Edelbrock mechanical)...also under the alternator, as though its being thrown around by the balancer...so Im thinking its the front seal, maybe the pan gasket/timing cover seal, or I have read that the fuel pump has a small hole that leaks oil if the diaphram ruptures?? I dont know for sure, but I do know its only when its run hard, like when I really get on it...It doesnt do it when cruzin at normal speeds or load. With this cam, the cylinder pressure is higher than before, so Im wondering if it just pushes past the seal or through a weak spot when its under heavy load?? What have you guys found to be common? The cross member and bottom of the engine are loaded with oil now, so I have to take care of this problem. But the cam change was worth it graemlins/hurray.gif John

clean off the engine so that you can get a better idea of where it is coming from.

I'd suspect the front of the oil pan (since you need to break it loose to swap cams), timing cover, timing cover oil seal.
