Hello everyone..

I just purchased a 71 Chevelle custom and need some advice. In order to keep my firewall clean and to be a little different, I want to mount my brake booster and components within the frame rails. My brother did this on a 56 Chevy truck but I am new to Chevelles and not sure if it can be done. Your help would be appreciated. :beers:

Anything's possible, I suppose. I'd start by picking up a copy of Street Rodder magazine and perusing the ads for a frame mount master cylinder assembly. There are plenty available, but you're going to have to be the one to decide which one will fit right. The pedal arm is going to push almost straight into the riser on the floor, so the geometry of the arm is crititcal. You might also need one with a remote reservior, or you'll have to cut a trap door in your floor to fill it. Bleeding brakes will become interesting, unless you do have the aforementioned remote reservior to keep the level higher than the calipers and wheel cylinders.

Just some thoughts, hope this helps. If you plan on selling the car, just be aware that this mod would probably not make the list of stuff adding value to the car, it'd be in the negative column, most likely. JMHO.
