Any of you guy's running a 700? I have an 86 model from a camaro, my question is Can I swap out the 27 spline shaft/drum and stator support for the later 30 spline? can I use the later input sprag? I see a bunch of kit's offering corvette servos, Is there a kit combo that anyone an suggest? I will be running a 7.4 L29 for power,I am aware of the TCC wiring, and already have the correct tailshaft housing to mount in the Chevelle, I am not looking to drag race the car so I would'nt need to go crazy with the rebuild, I would just like to know it's not going to explode if I get on it on the highway.
Thank You for your time.
Keith.

Keith,
The '86 model will already have the 30 spline input.
It will not be the auxiliary valve body model though.

It isn't going to explode on the highway if you do a few mods.
You will definitely want the Beast sun shell, the vette servo, a good 3-4 clutch pack, and a valve body kit with bigger boost valves. A few other minor parts to upgrade but pretty standard stuff.

Not my preferred trans behind a BBC but for your described usage it will probably work well.

I can put together a complete rebuild kit for you or at least help you select the parts you need.

Just PM me or shoot me an email.

If I remember later on I'll post my preferred parts list.

Jake, have you used the valve body for a 700R4 that changes the purpose of the throttle pressure cable? I saw one on the web that only used the cable to initiate down shift. Pressure was done by the valve body somehow independent of the throttle position.

Was talking with TCI about this at the Woodward Dream cruise. Seems like a nice unit for its intention. I might think about it later hopefully someone that needs it tries it first and reviews.

I haven't used it.
I don't see the need if you properly setup the TV cable.

If you look at the TCI instruction sheet for their constant pressure VB, they still say the TV cable adjustment must be made or trans failure will result.
Whats the point?

The OEM setup prevents failure IF you don't hook the cable up at all. Doesn't help an improperly adjusted cable.
Word of caution, most valve body kits eliminate the built in safety feature.
