Just installed new set of line locks, they work great but my car(back end) scoots over to the passenger side as I'm heating the tires up.....
Whats up with this? Thanx

If both tires are spinning (Posi) then there is very little (none) friction holding the rear of the car to the road...

It could be the crown of the pavement that causes your car to have the backend swing out toward the passenger side. Could also be the torque and the way the gears are rotating within the rear axle housing.

I personally think it also has alot to do with physics. Something I learned as the "Right-hand Rule" where a spinning object exerts a force along the axis of the rotation... Take your right hand and curl it like it was curling around the rear tires, with you four fingers going in the direction of the spinning tire... Now stick you thumb out. This is the direction of the force... So as your tires are spinning, they are also creating a force that is "pushing" the rear of the car to the right, and very little traction to counteract this force...

I haven't done any scientific studies (I'd love too), but it always seems like my car always put the rearend out to the passenger-side initially, whether on a street or a parking lot or a racetrack...

That is strange... My car's rearend has never gone to the passenger side, it's always swung out to the driver's side...

Ah yes,yet another mystery.Thanx for the input guys.Maybe I could try and keep the rpm's down alittle more.Don't know if that will help.Or I could just deal with it. Thanx again

can check the rear end to make sure it is sitting square with the car. if the rear end is angled alittle in either direction then it wants to go that way.

i have in the past had issues with this and using some fine string tape it to the 3 o'clock position on the back side of the rear tire and pull it forward to the front of the car till the string just touches the sidewall of the rear tire at the 9 o'clock position and take a measurement off the frame.......go to the other side and do the same.......they should read close and if not then the rear end is sitting crooked......

straighten the rear end up and if there is still pull from one side to the other then you need to preload the chassis.

on leaf spring cars with traction bars this can be done by setting the gap from the traction bar to the leaf spring eye closer. if the car pulls to the right then tighten up the gap on the right or open the gap on the left.

You need to adjust your preload on your suspension. Put an air bag under the right side and air it up until it stays straight. (usually about 14-18 lbs.) Or you could use adjustable uppers to adjust preload.

Do you have any kind of traction bar? If so add preload on the driver side or remove load from the pass. side. You are getting more bite on the pass. side and it needs to be balanced. If you don't have a bar or air bag, get your buddy to hold it in place. graemlins/beers.gif

I didn't think of that......... Thanx Although what would be better to keep the rear planted uppers or the bag?
