I have a fully restord 69 chevelle ss that the window on the passenger side does not align correctly with the back window. it rolls up and down ok but aligned crooked with the back window and overlaps the back one.
never having pulled a door panel has anyone had this problem and know the fix ? what tools/tips do i need for the job ?
thanks.

First thing you need to determine is whether or not your rear quarter window is aligned properly. If it rolls up and down nicely, and the top edge meets and seals against the weatherstrip evenly, then it is probably OK. Given that, then you need to adjust your door glass.
In order to remove the door panel, you will need to have the special tool for removing the door handle and window crank retaining clips. I've had mine for so many years, I'm not sure if you can buy them from your local auto parts supply house any more or not. If not, you will need to find one somewhere in order to remove the inside door handle and window crank.
Before you can remove the door panel, you need to remove the door lock knob, arm rest, window crank, and door handle. Once they're off, remove the Phillips head screws along the bottom edge, and then start pulling the plastic retainer clips out of the door shell. Be careful not to rip the cardboard backing on the door panel itself. Once they are all free, push outward and upward on the door panel at the top edge in order to unhook it from the top edge of the window opening. The door panel will then come off.
There are a number of adjustments for the window itself. No special tools required, usually just a 7/16" or 1/2" socket or wrench. Your best bet is to buy a Fisher Body manual to see the different adjustments you can make. It's basically trial and error from here on, getting the best fit with the weatherstrip on top and having it align with and seal on the weatherstrip at the leading edge of the rear quarter glass. Good luck.
