I have a new pump and an old one. I believe its called the rod on the oil pump right? I dropped the driveshaft down the hole and lined up the rod on the pump to it and bolted it down. At first it had a little bit of extra play it would still catch and they would turn. I was worried about that extra play/room between the 2... but then I realized the block is up-si-down! It's supposed to be like this right? That MAY have made sence...
