We are about to start on wiring our 67 Chevelle and I have been doing research on suppliers. I know from doing a 66 GTO, I do not want M & H harnesses (good product) because I think there are better products out there.
I am down to two choices- Ron Francis and American Autowire. The thing I like about Francis is the fact that all wires are labeled the length of the wire and it is readable. Did I read correct the American Autowire dash harness has like a quick disconnect (for lack of a better phrase) so you could do the dash on a bench and then plug it in??? Also are their wires labeled? at 53 and with older eyes, I hate laying on my back for hours under a dash finding and hooking up wires. Several other car buddies have recommended Francis and I have read good comments here on American Autowire.

So what do you'll think is the best wiring to use?

Thanks
Larry

Im sure AAW is great, but seems way too expensive!

I have installed M&H harness in three cars and they went in perfectly.

Chuck B- I have used M&H and it is a good product (no complaints on quality), just thinking something else like the Francis with labeled wires might make it easier on a old man......

American Autowire is the best available, especially now for the 64-67's. Besides having the Factory Fit OEM style direct replacement harnesses, they just released an Update Kit that includes a TON of stuff none of the other Update Kits on the market can come close to like including alot of the end connectors. The wires are all labeled. Here is the list of what it comes with:

It will include:
- Replacement headlight switch w/ internal 30 amp circuit breaker included.
- Retention collar nut, adjustable length shaft, and custom knob
- Standard turn signal, hazard flasher, & horn relay mounted on fuse panel
- Fuse box designed to fit in original location
- All required hardware supplied
- New ATO fuse allow easy fuse and circuit breaker accessibility.
- Harness is laid out and designed to allow for nearly all after market accessories
such as; gauge packages, wiper systems, heat and air conditioning systems
- Original switch connector bodies! (Exclusive to American Autowire)
- Steering column connectors will plug directly into most after market steering columns
as well as 1969 and later GM columns which utilize stock GM turn signal switches
- The original column can also be wired by using the supplied mating connector and
terminals
- Along with wiring for your original dome/interior lighting we have included separate
underdash light sockets
- Instrument Cluster wiring is designed with a "cluster harness disconnect" system
for easy service and assembly
- All original terminals, connectors (Exclusive to American Autowire)and light sockets
are also supplied for original cluster gauges.
- The best aspect of the disconnect system is that any gauge cluster package can
be easily and neatly wired in. This includes AUTOMETER, CLASSIC INSTRUMENTS, COVAN
CLASSICS, DAKOTA DIGITAL, STEWART WARNER, and VDO just to name a few
- Rear body harness assembly is designed to plug into the main harness in the original
connector bodies
- Flexibility in harness design allows for original or custom routing. Rear body
wiring includes backup light wires and mating connectors for backup light leads
- License plate lead, connectors, and terminals included
- Fuel tank sender wire and terminal included

Kit retails through American Autowire for $529. We sell them everyday for $499 and I have sold quite a few since they released them a few weeks ago. Hope this helps. Anymore questions or what to order one, just let me know.

They quoted me over 800 for my 72, I can do A LOT of re-wiring for that kind of money!
