: Pictures of the new 69 Project
NOTHINBUT69s Aug 20th, 07, 6:04 PM No I didn't pull it from the bone yard, I found it in the mid Michigan area. The back half does have rust issues but a very nice bottom structure. It came with new full quarters and a full new truck pan.
Check out what I found when removing all the grime off the trans.:hurray: ,Its a 400 turbo with a id tag that reads C C 228

what does that mean ???
prefectca Aug 20th, 07, 9:19 PM WOW! Really rare for a car that age to have its original automatic trans. I also live in the land of rust and I wish my car looked as good as yours!

glennslanaker Aug 20th, 07, 9:54 PM how does CC 228 tell you it's the original trans? i'm confused. i see a lot of old cars with original trans, seems a lot more common that having the original engine. in fact, all 5 of my old cars do. probably less so on the automatic cars though, i'll agree.
mad hooker Aug 20th, 07, 9:59 PM that frame looks super clean! your lucky. should be easy getting the frame ready to paint.

The vin number on the left side of the trans matches the dash vin 306622, The id tag cc stands for 396/325hp, the 228 is the 228 day trans was built that year. If your 69 has a matching number 400 turbo it was a big block car seen the 400s were only put behind the big block other then standard transmissions
Jimmy P Aug 20th, 07, 10:33 PM Nice find! I just brought home a 69 'project' myself. My car came with a turbo 400, but it was an original 4 speed car. I have a line on the original owner who supposedly has the original Muncie.
Would the Muncie have the same type ID and VIN as the Turbo 400?
1badss396 Aug 20th, 07, 10:37 PM Congrats on that find Jim. Better keep that good picture in a safe place also, looks like all that grime will make your frame very nice and clean once you get it dregreased...
Andy69 Aug 20th, 07, 10:41 PM WOW! Is that an original suspension delete model? COOL!!

The muncie should have the vin stamped on the side pad, i dont believe it'll have an id tag though I may be mistaken on that

john5469 Aug 21st, 07, 12:44 PM Jim, you have a good find there. Where do you start with the body work? I have a similar project with some rust and bondo to do and I don't know where to start on the body work. Need a video i could follow "Step 1. remove old paint"
