Well we finally got it, that elusive 5 second time slip. It was 3 years of fine tuning the car. Here's how the slip reads, all be it a yellow for the break-out:
6.01 Dial
.5881 reaction
1.3129 60'
5.5989@594'
5.9910@1/8th
114.77 mph
I was a little perturbed when his light came on 'cause I had him at the line by about 1/2 car length and I don't lift period. I backed the timing to 38* total from 41* in at 2100rpm. The car picked up from 6.13's to 6.05 with the vacuum pump, the rest was in the timing. Oh ya, I switched from 33x15 Hoosier to 32x14 M/T's.

Congrats on the 5 sec. run. Sucks that you had to break out and give the win to the other guy to do it though. Now you'll have to start dialing in at a 5.97.

Great job! It always seems like so much work for so little, but being that those gains are in the 1/8 instead of the 1/4 it's that much harder.

First off congratulations are in order!

Im curious how the changes you made effected your MPH and 60ft as well.

Also you mentioned picking up almost a 10th with the vacuum pump, what type of piston and ring package are you running? End gap? How much vacuum are you pulling?

That is flying wish you had a video for us, I love to watch member videos!!!

That's why I like heads up racing. I could never see the sense of going pedal to the metal and stomping on the brakes! Cograts on the 5.

Glad to hear the Mickey's worked for you. I just put a set on my car. Did you get the stiff sidewall or regular?

It's the '68 Firebird. To view go to www.riggerus.com and click 2007 pictures. It's a 498" BBC with standard tension rings and gap. The M/T's are regular sidewall. The heads are GMPP roval port that I borrowed from the '68 Chevelle.
