Hey guys,
Today i got my new M/T ET DRAGS and got them mounted. Took it out to and industrial park and took the trac bite too smile.gif . Anywayyyyyy, with the street tires my car couldnt hook for anything. Now tonight I got out put some track bite infront of the tires, and did my lil burn out. I got out and felt the tires they were sticky as anything. PERFECT. So I pulled up a lil bit and did a 3500 footbrake, and let off the brake and mashed the gas to the floor. The front end lifted and it fell on its face, then screamed again. Like i'm having stumble still. Is it jetting? or accelerator pump? It does it at 4000 too when I take off. The car runs great from then on. Just stumbles in the beginning. Plus if i mash it from idle it falls on iots face. is this the same problem? I ordered a 50cc Accelerator pump and i'll have that tomorrow. But it seems like the 4000rpm stumble would be jetting or osmething else. The Jets in the front are 84s and 95s in the back now.
Thanks guys

Launching at that rpm could be using up a lot of the accelerator pump travel. Try more air gap on the pump linkage. This will bring on the pump later. You probably won't like it set this way for street driving or leaving off idle. A larger squirter may be needed.

ahh I see what you mean. i'll try that too, i went out today and bought two 40 squirters with the screws with the holes in it. Its jetted now 86 up front and 96 in the back. its has the biggest cam in it for the Acc pumps. WE'll see what that does and i'll get back to you
Thanks Pat!!!!

I checked your site and see you have an 850 on the engine. Those are some mighty big jet. I had an 850 (annular dp) on my 355 (shifted at 7000) but never got to the size you're using. IIRC, 79/88 or so. I used 30cc pumps, orange cams, and 37 squirters with hollow screws. It worked quite well.

I recently put a 750 DP on and the car picked up .5 - 1 mph and about .06 et (60' unchanged but more consistant). Honestly, I didn't think it was possible to over-carb a drag engine but I guess it can happen. I always figured you wanted below 1" vacuum with WOT and at speed. I now have a bit over 1" but the engine seems to like it. Oh yeah, since I put the 750 on I keep red lighting. The car's reaction time got quicker.

2 other thoughts.

1. You may need jet extentions for the back jets if you don't already have them. The aggressive launch may be uncovering the jets.

2. Possibility of gas sloshing out of the vent tube. I've got a piece of tubing running from the rear vent tube to the front one ( with a hole in the top) on my dominator to keep this from occuring.

my 2 cents

Hey guys, so today i called my respective carb guy and he tells me to put a 45 squirter on the back. So i did, and it got better...but still there. To explain it as best i can....from idle....Its a
WAAAAAAaaaaaaaaaaaAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA

The small A's is where it has a bog, then it runs great. But It revs hard at 1st, then bogs, then picks right up! Fuel pressure is at 7.5 to 8.

I this this is too much carb for this motor, but my plugs are brown! one or two were darker. This is a small block, and i'm into the 90s with jets. Could i have too much carb? like too much CFM of AIR, and thats why my jets are so much. when theres air you need gas to compensate?? I'm stumped

Here is a suggestion. Give my carb guy a call. He's really good on the phone and might have some good ideas. Dave Lange (909) 920-3779. He's in Calif, so allow for the time difference. He knows his stuff and has been doing this since the 50's. He has over 60 Wallys, most of them as a crew chief. The squirter size and jetting your running seem pretty far out of whack to me.

You're not running a throttle stop by chance? smile.gif That's what it sounds like.
