Are front wheel bearing seals sold seperatly? I want to check my front wheel bearings and the book says to install a new seal after you repack them.

Yes, plus you will trash the seal when you take the bearings out.

Get a piece of wood, like a broom handle, cut it off square on the end about 10 or 12 inches long, drive out the bushing with that and you won't score the races.

HMMM I have been pulling them off with the nut for 40 years. After pulling the outer bearing put the nut back on, slide the hub out until the outer bearing is caught on the nut push it back in about an inch and slide off rapidly holding down on the hub. The inner bearing and seal will remain on the spindle. It does not damage the seal, race or the bearing and often if the seal isn't worn or hard it can be reused.

For the cost of one, I always replace them.

I guess I'm lucky, I have knocked them out with the inner wheel bearing and a brass drift and reused...back in the more "budgeted" days. They are only $5 each.

I have used a trick that involves using a longer prybar that goes behind the inside bearing facing towards the floor, then I step on it and out comes the bearing and seal. Thats only if the perticular model has a nut that just goes right through the center of the inside bearing. Some trucks are like that so Chevelles wouldnt really apply, but it still works. Grease ends up on the floor usually so I try not to do that if I dont have to, or put a rag down. The nut trick usually works for me also.
