No and No. Just my opinion. Not worth much...

Did both to my '66. Love the brakelights, come on a fraction faster and MUCH brighter than a std GM 1157 bulb. Good insurance against all the cellphone-texting-while-driving 17 yr olds that love to follow a foot behind me. And they plug right into the std socket.

Did the Xenon conversion over the winter out of boredom. Not a lot brighter on mine, but maybe a relay per side would help. Plus you have to use a hole saw on the core support because the connectors are larger OD and longer on these bulbs. They also look blue when unlit if that matters to you.

Do you do most of your driving in reverse or forward??

Absolutely on the brake lights. I swapped to one of the kits, they are SUPER bright. I'd recommend them to anyone just for the safety.

I don't drive much with the 'velle at night, but I'm glad I have hologens up front for the same reason.

The sequentail LED tail lights we sell everyone loves and are a good safety upgrade. The headlight upgrade OPG has got sucks because you have to cut a hole in the core support for clearance. I would not do that. We are working on a headlight upgrade that will include a relay kit and won;t require cutting the core support. Should be available in a few weeks.

Well with respect to the headlights...

You should provide more info on what car you are talking about because it really can make a difference here. For example if you had a 4-light setup than you can make an absolute killer setup using H4/H1 European specification bulbs.

But since it appears you are talking about a 2-light setup on a '71... you can still do pretty well with the H4 European specification bulbs. The advantage to these bulbs is the much superior focus and light distribution of the low beam. These bulbs have a sharp flat cut-off line with a kick up on the right to illuminate the shoulder away from oncoming traffic. And if you get inspired there are H4 bulbs of higher/different wattage configurations.

Yes you WILL have to modify your core support to make these work as they have a large sealing boot on the back. It really does not have to be the big deal that previous posters make it out to be. The way I did this was to use a 2.75" bimetal hole saw with a locating jig attached to the headlight adjusting screws. Works very well and after a bit of paint only a *very* sharp eye will ever notice.

I have run these types of headlights for years and have bought sets for at least 4 different cars. They are a bit expensive but repeat purchases tell you that I really consider these worthwhile upgrades. Here is a web page I did on my setup:
http://home.surewest.net/jahr/ElCamino/Electrical/Electrical.html

To get full advantage of whatever lights you have up front you should upgrade to a relay switched setup. Light output degrades significantly with only a minor drop in supply voltage.

Most of the members in the NorthStar Chevelle Club use the LEDs from John Delke. aka 64elky on this board. The night driving is not the problem on older cars, daylight with the sunlight directly at the taillights is were LEDs come into play.

Beware the cheap LED bulbs as they don't have enough light spread to fill the entire lens with light. They will be brighter than an 1157 but only in a small circle. I bought some < $20 LED bulbs and liked them but found they did not fill the whole taillight lens. I have heard good things about the better (more expensive) LED taillights.

Here is a photo comparison of an 1157 incandescent vs LED bulb on the back of my '70:

I did the H4 Xenon headlight upgrade on the outer low-beam lamps. As stated above, this required cutting a larger hole in the radiator core support. The H4 light output is better than basic Halogen light, with a sharp upper edge like on most modern cars. vrooom3440 described the beam pattern very well. I would recommend the H4 upgrade.

They look good. I will be doing some relay conversions and possibly LED conversions this winter.

For those that have not noticed, our sequential LED's are on sale right now in the vendors section.

I just added a third brake light on the rear shelf of the Camino; I figure if the're not looking up they are going to hit me anyways.

I think this is done - I saw a post on here about it or a similar kit, they did the upgrade on one of the TV shows.

I installed kit from Musclerodz for my '69 several months ago and happy with results. They give you option of all on or sequencial for turning. I went with sequencial just to add to attention getter for those behind me.
