: New carb arrives!!!!
ak69 Feb 9th, 05, 10:59 PM My Pro-systems carb was just delivered today!!!!
Nice looking piece. 1000HP, Tech sheet shows it jetted 82 / 90, 6.4 PV front / PV blocked rear, 50cc pumps front and back, 45 squirters front and back. Patrick has told me to run this carb as delivered, change nothing. I have been told by many others that he is able to set them up spot on. Cool.
Should be a little different at the track come spring, new carb and have swapped out the 3.70 gear for 4.11's
Hoping to improve on my 60' times and pick up a little MPH.
What kind of ET improvement would you guys expect with the new gear and carb? Track opens on Mother's day. Plenty of time to dream about it!!!!
70_FathomBlueMalibu Feb 10th, 05, 2:11 AM Interested in seeing the results of this and whether he nailed your combo.
Good luck and tell us how it turns out.
mr 4 speed Feb 10th, 05, 6:40 AM Craig,I am certainly interested in your performance gains as well.
Did you drive it yet? I bet the throttle response will be incredible.
blumont Feb 10th, 05, 8:58 AM I actually just ordered a carb from pro systems on Tuesday. Pricing wasn't that bad when compared to a new 750dp I was thinking of buying. Let us know how it works out. I have heard nothing but good on his carbs

Far be it for me to second guess ProSystem, but that seems like an AWFUL lot of carb/jetting/squirter for your application. I'm basing my comment on the combo listed in your signature. Is this combo what the new carb is for?
ak69 Feb 10th, 05, 12:57 PM Ken, It is for the combo in the sig. I would agree that it sounds "big" on paper. I have not put it on the car yet, it will be a few more months for weather to get right for that.
I am for sure relying on Prosystem's call. I did submit a tech sheet, and had a couple of phone conversations with Patrick James. I got a kick when he told me to NOT let the "boys at the Track" tweak on my carb. He provide's tech service, call him on the cell from the track. It's going to be interesting for sure.
Nice numbers with the new heads Ken!........good weather and a sticky track will set some very impressive times.
kjett Feb 10th, 05, 1:03 PM Craig,
I've spoken with Patrick before and he seems like a super nice and knowledgable individual. A good friend of mine runs his split dominator setup in SSP/AA2 and SSP/BA2 and owns several NHRA national records using that setup. Other's that I know have had great results as well. Keep us posted and best of luck to you at the track graemlins/thumbsup.gif
JOHN WILSON Feb 10th, 05, 1:11 PM Craig, can you list some of the specs on your carb tech sheet, such as air bleed size, etc? I got my hp1000 back from PS last week and it was converted to a power valve setup (among other changes). Initially it was delivered with both pv's plugged but had an off idle stumble. Hopefully if the rain will stay away I can make some passes with it tomorrow.

66BBCONV Feb 10th, 05, 2:21 PM Craig,
You are just spending that money aren't you. tongue.gif Can't wait to see what she will do once you get it set up with the new carb and gears. smile.gif
Do you ever hear anything from Ed? I miss all the old action he stired up, :D altho, I understand other's views on the subject.
I don't know if we are going to make it up this summer or not yet. Things just keep getting busier all the time.
Bill
ak69 Feb 10th, 05, 2:47 PM Bill, I have depleted the hot rod budget for the fiscal year of 2004(glad that it is now 2005!!!) My finacial advisor was recently blinded by a diamond bracelet, and she has not been able to focus on "the books" since. I might catch a little heat for the recent purchases, she just shakes her head and says "That better not be that Nitrous stuff". "You will blow up your car and then we wont be able to go get ice cream and it will be just like that transmission that you broke and you will.............."
I do hear from Ed every now and then. I did contact him recently in regards to the carb purchase. I think he is taking a breather from the boards, and putting all of his energy's into his bracket program. (Maybe building a new engine?, that's just me speculating)
Keep working on those vacation plans, it's not every day you can make an 11 second pass at the track and then go catch some rainbows for supper!!!
JOHN WILSON Feb 10th, 05, 7:12 PM Thanks! graemlins/thumbsup.gif
hoffbug Feb 10th, 05, 7:50 PM Craig
Did Patrick put downleg or an annular type boosters in your carb?
doggy69 Feb 10th, 05, 8:37 PM If you dont mind me asking how much did it cost you?
yanniz Feb 10th, 05, 8:49 PM I had my 1150 re-worked by Patrick...I thought the jetting was "weird" when I got it...
My machinist/builder has been using Patrick for years and he is the only one that he will use..
Had the motor on the engine dyno yesterday setting the rings and run it for 30 minutes to brake it in...full dyno/tuning session tomorrow, all day..
the carb sounded great and it seems to be right on...throttle response incredible....
did a couple stabs to 6500 rpm yesterday and it put out 922 HP at 6500 and 770 ft-lbs at 5500 rpm...this is with no tuning done....
I can come back tomorrow after the session and give you the details on the carb but from yesterday I can say that it is right on....Patrick also makes himself available during the dyno session, doubt we will need him though.. smile.gif

If you dont mind me asking how much did it cost you? About 150 dollars more than a stock 950 hp from the mail order houses. That's got to be money well spent for the service, tech support, and experience that Pro-systems offers. And, it is built on a billet base plate, that sould insure against problems that some have had with cracking / warping the stock cast plates. Oh yeah, he includes some nice stickers. The kid down the street now has the big arse PROSYSTEMS / WORLDS FASTEST CARBS decals on his snowmachine :D
Motor Martyr Feb 11th, 05, 1:07 PM Nice, cant wait to see how it performs.
