Way too much. The number one rule is to try to get all the parts. It isn't even a good project car for that price because you have to undo all the things done to it. It has no...nothing.

Let's say you think the finished car is worth $25K (depends on where you live). You need to ask yourself if you can replace everything for $10K (15K + 10K)? You don't want to be upside down. I just read the post before this where the guy didn't want to sell for less that $33K because he had a ton in the drive train alone. Problem is that he will never get the money back. Get a beater with good metal and all the parts in place and start from there.

I paid $200 for a 65 SS. It didn't have motor, trans, rear end or seats. It did have the dash, all harnesses with a fairly solid body.

I'd buy that 65 for $200 bucks too! Personally if the 66 was solid, looks like it might be ok from the pic, AND it had a title, I would possibly pay that 1000-1500 for it... I dont buy anything without a title anymore though.

If there is minimal rust. I would say its a good price.

Mark As you have a "correct" car , a good solid body offers you a different set of options if you intend to build the car. As the car has nothing it can be built as desired . There is growing interest in these cars that retain the classic look and have a modern drivetrain, upgraded suspension, A/C, High End stereo, etc.

If all you know is what we can see a lot of questions still have to be answered by an inspection. I would think a lot of rust repair would bankrupt the project. I imagine it can be bought back of $1500 but for me I would not want it for free. Digging up $25K to build it and beggin' some bastard to paint it just does not interest me now.

Buy the 37.

Actually sounds like an okay deal, but this scares me:
there is NO TITLE we lost the title it was notorized to us and the guy we bought it from has passed away

If I was local with a trailer, this would probably be worth spending some time looking closer...

Dash with guages (or is it just idiot lights?)?

I believe it says $1500, as in 15 Hundred, correct? (ie 15 Ben Franklin's)

man there are some hard heads on here...........
1500 bucks for a roller
you pick the way you build it.
no worries of number this number that...
you can buy a 30g's car and it be a mess under all that pretty color..(unless you saw it painted you don't know whats under it.)
want a ls2/6sp car with power/heated seats
a/c power windows/locks/ multi spd wipers/ more than am radio
this is it..
not everybody has 10-15 g's to drop on a toy all at once..
and from what I've seen of most of the cars for 15'gs
your better off starting with ..that

some of you need to sit down with all the invoices for all that work and parts.
then add your labor..
most have twice what their "Toy" is worth IN THEM..
even if it's a rat....
you can part it out and make your mony back...
peace

Hey Chuck, it's $1500 not $15,000.

OHHHHHH DUHHHH!
Sorry, not a bad deal at all.

On the title thing, you can call the DMV in that state and they can tell you who has legal title. If it's the dead guy you can ask how to clear the title. In any case you want to know who the legal owner is.

Whether it is free or $1500 that amount of money is inconsequential at the front end of a project. It should depend on an individuals staying power, experience and ability to tolerate the length of time to complete.

The thing so many people fail to realize is how difficult it is to get the paint and body done in some areas. In NE Texas or a 200 mile radius any one that is capable or that would agree to do it has so many wealthy clients that it would bankrupt the average project at their rates and creep along progress. After you get one built so many of us have no groups or events within the same radius.

Hard Head! Well maybe, but we are just doing the best we can with what we have to work with. Before being critical try to understand my situation dictates the kind of car I drive not my pocketbook.

It sold today, so I guess the price was reasonable.
