Ok, so I picked-up this carb a few weeks back at a swap meet. I figured for $10 it was at least worth parts. I have been needing one for the 68 anyways as I have been running a borrowed carb for several months now and would like to return it.

then yesterday I get my new CW and there's an article on carb numbers, which I figured would be in the listing. it wasn't.

From the data I have, I have a pretty good idea what this carb is for, but I thought I would see if anyone agrees.

I could be wrong be I think it's off a 1970 Cadillac with an auto trans.

These are the two sites that I use when buying and selling Quadrajet Carbs. $10 is a good deal IMO.

The above post is correct: PN# 70402320 is off from a 1970 Cadillac Eldorado

re: Quadra-"Junk"

That's right... I love it when a Holley lover dumps yet another QJet or AFB so he can get a Holley. I just egg them on, it keeps the QJet prices nice and low.

You can always spot the Holley guys... their hoods are up 'cause they have to "set their idle up...or down...or up..." or they are stopped at the gas station AGAIN, or they are standing around the Sonic with their hood up explaining why they bogged off the line AGAIN.

I just smile and nod. Then after they are done, I drive smoothly off in my inexpensive to own and operate, not finicky, reliable, and easily-tuned QJet equipped car...unless I'm in my 66 SS Impala. Then I open my hood too, reset my idle and accelerator pump again, tweak the choke, bump the hi-idle circuit back off, and diddle with the TV cable setup; THEN I drive off.

I'm with you. I love to see the guys dissing the Q-Jets...It does keep the price low on em for the guys that know they are superior to the Holleys :D

I do too, I used to have a Holley 750 on my 402, and it caused more problems than i can shake a stick at, and talk about a gas pig. I recently bought a blueprinted q-jet, and my car now runs like a dream

I have worked on them all. I can honestly tell you that I still prefer the Rochester Quadrajet over all others.

Yes, and if you check some of the drag racing sites you will find Q-jets hold their own. Most people don't understand q-jets, thus they dump on them.

Yet a well tuned Holley can run pretty sweet too!

Yes I am running a Q-jet. 750cfm and yes it runs real good!

I'd like to hear what the Wolfman has to say about the Quadrajet.

It is indeed a Qjet from a '70 Caddy with an automatic.

Great carbs, make sure the throttle shafts are tight, get a gasket kit, find the right rods/jets for your combo, larger accelerator pump, high-flow needle and seat, and see what they can do. I spent a whole $40 in parts on mine and it runs way better.

Wow!

And I thought I was gonna get flamed. :D

Well, to be fair, I guess I'm being a little tough on the Holley carbs. Dominators have won a lot of races...at the strip, on pro stock cars, running narrowly tuned motors for sub 8 second bursts-with a full time mechanic tending to them, with sponsorship from Holley. They're great!

there, I was nice.

Greg,
I had a bud GIVE me a 7028213 DY complete in an AC-Delco box
1968 327/275 350/295 horse std trans is the application.
Life is good for me!
Will give it the dust-off and once-over and set it atop the Performer intake on my 70 Elky, and put in a FREE LT-1 solid lifter cam....and got a free timing chain, have free lifters laid on and gaskets from the garage....
Lotsa "door car" stuff he's got stashed......dragster guy for years needs room for high-end stuff.... I need to take my Elky over to clean his garage.
