Got the beast on the road, drove a couple of miles, tranny temp goes up, and I am lacking power, rpm good. I pull in at SAM's club and the front brakes are smoking. I let them cool down and drive it home slow. Got the brakes working more like they ought too and head out for more test driving. I started out to get gas, I got gas, then decided to stop by Auto Zone show my friend the car, AZ is two blocks from the house.
I pull into park and the pressure line on the power steering pump let go. It's fixed again, but no more test driving today. By the way, I do not like the mini spool in the car, so I will be on the hunt for something more friendly.

Yeah, typical "shakedown" run, huh!? You'll get the bugs out. graemlins/thumbsup.gif

You have a pic of the 'beast' or am I going to have to look for it when I'm down there next week?

I hope so. 40 bucks for 20 gal of fuel. Tomorrow wll be better. At least the motor is broke in and the tranny. I guess considering when i got the car it was a body, frame, and bugs it's doing OK. I just don't care for the "might have to call AAA part" It beats walking though.

P.S Lots of pictures of the beast on Grump1.com

I see that your from Clearwater, I'm a little ways south of you in Cape Coral. You ever go by P.J.s Auto, I think they have two showrooms now, they have some really beautiful cars there, thats where I got my '71 Monte, but it was only $4,000, it wasn't one of their 'showroom' cars, there's some priceless stuff over there.

I go by one pj's downtown when I goto the mexican resturaunt where you get roaches with your tea. The new one is only a couple of blocks from the house. I have been to neither of them, cept for passing by. Anyway, Today is a new day, so I will go see what will happen today. Well that is after I try to figure out why I had large puddles of fuel by the fuel cell with no obvious signs of leakage with or without the pump on. Found this last night walking by the naughty little beast, and a strong smell of fuel hit me.

Well since I posted this thread this AM, I found that my good ole Holley blue was leaking. It's replace now, and am waiting for fuel to evaporate a bit more before I go for another shakedown breakdown drive.

Come on all of you get up and lets do the shakedown breakdown.

I have returned from a couple of rides now. The only problem so far is the tranny temp. I will have to put my fan back on it. So I guess the beast will be OK.
