Buy a scraper from a hardware store and grind it down to fit the width of the weatherstripping and commence to cutting it off. If you're not doing a repaint just be sure to epoxy primer the weatherstrip channel before installing the new weatherstripping. One more thing, When doing the reinstall you will have a choice between the black or yellow weatherstripping adhesive. The yellow works the best but will stick out like a sore thumb if you don't apply it perfectly and don't leave any sticking out beyond the rubber. Use the black if you have "shaky hands".
