Quick question for you all. My car previously ran really strong no problems, everything felt good and the car pulled really hard. Then one of my bowls started leaking gas and i went back to school and the car sat un-driven for about 5 months or so.

Well i went out today put new gaskets on the front and back bowls and metering blocks along with a quick dip in carb parts cleaner. I changed the accelerator pump gasket/combo thing on the bottom of the carb. I did not adjust the linkage, timing or anything as the car was running nearly perfect before.

Now it is bogged down at anything below 1500 rpm. Once you get out of 1500 rpm it hauls hard. I looked at the squirter's and both are squirting a solid stream of gas when i throttled it up. So i don't think its that.

Not sure whats going on the car ran perfect before it sat.

Also the back butterflys were stuck closed with crap so i got them moving again.

Ran great 6 months ago!

sounds like a problem with the block gaskets to me. Did you install new ones? Check the new against the old?

yeah i checked them and made sure they looked the same. It was a direct from holley rebuild kit.

Did you change the gasket between the main body and throttle plate? They give you a variety of gaskets , you have to make sure the holes line up for the idle feed holes.

I would take it apart again and blow everything out w/compressed air. Sounds like some crud is stuck in the idle/cruise circuit.

My brand new Street Avenger started doing the same thing as you described. It turned out that the zinc coating on the inside of the bowls was flaking off due to bad casting. I called Holley and they already knew about the problem and I received a new one in 2 days. I have nothing but praise for Holley's customer service.

Trouble is if thats the case the carb is probably too old for them to replace now. And i changed the accelerator pump, bowl gasket and metering block gaskets. I dipped the bowls and metering blocks in carb cleaner real quick just from handling.

i guess ill have to play with it a little more.
