just curious as to what spark plugs have worked the best. and what part numbers they are, and extended tip or not? i'm having alot of trouble trying to find a 3/4" reach plug that isn't extended tip. appreciate any help i can get here. i've been to Pep boys, Autozone, and Napa, and nobody seems to have the plugs i want in stock. doesn't matter what brand name, although i prefer not to run Autolites as i've had no luck with them before. was trying to find a Champion 801, N3C, but can't find one or anyone who can even cross reference it to another plug for me. TIA.

I don't currently run them but I'm looking into getting a set. According to Dart's specs they recommend Champion C59C / C59YC.

I am running a 408sb with the pro 1 heads (215) with mild porting and port matching with intake. I am running NGK's R5672-8 (ext tip) for motor only and r5671-9 (-10 for bigger shots). They have worked good for me. I found the best place to get them (price wise) is O-Reillys, they have to order them but can have them the next day. I was thinking they cost about $1.79ish each.
What kinds times are running with your dart head small block...they do not get much credit on here every one running AFR heads.
I just had my best run of 11.27@117 (motor only) w/1.58 60ft, there was also a head wind (have gone low 119mph before) Best Nitrous run 9.89@135.

m,
Make sure to check the heads very carefully to make sure that the spark plug is going in all the way to the combustion chamber. We have seen several sets that were not machined properly and the end of the plug ended up being about 1/8" up in the threads :( Other than that they seem to be nice heads.

M71 Did you know you can go to www.dartheads.com (http://www.dartheads.com) and print out all the info on your heads? A friend of mine that works there built my 355 with Dart Pro 1's and he says and so does the Dart site that I should run Champion C59YC. You should run the C59C if you run nitrous. What kind of hp and torque are you getting out of your SB? What kind of carb are you running? I'm running a Demon 850 Mechanical Secondary recommended by the builder who works and races for Dart. I'd like to hear more about your combo too!!

no parts places around here have ever heard of the c57c or c59yc. i should've mentioned that earlier. believe me i check everything on every part i get now. Pro Topline cured me of ever taking anything for granted, that's why i have the Pro 1's now.
i haven't really gotten to run the car much at all yet, due to the problems with the Pro Topline Turds i had on them. i just now got everything together with the Darts and new headers.
Here's what i have: 1970 4-bolt main 400, +.030, stock crank, Eagle 5.7 rods, SRP forged F/T's 2 valve relief, Comp XE284 .507/.510, CC Pro Magnum 1.6 roller rockers, Dart Pro 1's 215cc angle plug w/64cc's, #986 CC valve springs, Air Gap intake, 3310 Holley(for now, it's all i can afford), HEI distributor(i know, i know, but it has never failed me yet......), 1 3/4" S/C's, for now just 2 1/2" exhaust with Flow Tech Terminaters, th350 w/Coan 10" 3200 convertor, 12 bolt posi with 4.10 gears. 1971 Chevelle Malibu.
if it doesn't run at least a 7.90 1/8mi like it is, i'm gonna kill it! with a better carb and 3" exhaust and some 3" mufflers, it should run in the 7.50-7.60 range i would hope.
what do you guys think?

I'm also running Dart Pro 1 215cc heads on my 406 small block.

I've personally tried Autolite (can't recall the #), AC Delco fr3ls and NGK 5155s.

My car seems to like the NGKs the best, but I can't quote any performance #s. NGK 5155s are really easy to find to. I did run the 5671-7s a few times but they don't seem to be an easy plug to find around here.

This is on a 67 Camaro that has run a best of 11.42@117 NA.

thanks for the info gwarren. do you know if that's an extended tip plug? and what heat range are the 5155's as compared to an AC. like an R44 or R45 or what?

The C59YC's are a race plug. Tell them to look in the race section of the Champion catalog. The YC is an extended tip copper plug.
For most use an RC12YC will work just fine. If you need colder use an RC9YC. These are standard Champion plugs that everyone should carry & can cross reference to your favorite brand.

Another disgruntled pro-topline user. What kinds of problems did you have with yours? Wasn't too pleased with mine either.

some of the problems i'm not sure were they're fault or teh dealer's fault. first thing was they were supposed to be fully assembled and ready to run and they weren't. the valves that were sent with the heads were 2.02/1.60's, the heads were cut for 2.05 intakes. got that straightened out by swapping them even for a set of 2.05's from my machinest. next thing was that the temp sending unit fittings were not tapped properly, i had to retap them myself. then the heads were too wide. by that i mean that setting on the motor the intake mounting faces were too close together to get the intake to sit down properly and seal. the rest is dealing with them at Pro Topline. very poor customer service. i know of at least 5 or 6 other pairs of Pro Toplines that were faulty too. i know a few that are happy with them but more bad than good at this point. some have had holes in them, leaking water into the crankcase, combustion chamber hitting the dome on a 355 piston, intake face bolt holes not even drilled, the list goes on and on......
