Guys:
Can I purchase a set of aftermarket rear end caps and have them machined to properly fit in a rear? I have an old 12 bolt that is missing the caps and don't really want to just toss it in the scrap heap. Also, anyone have an idea of the cost involved if this is possible?
TIA,

Yes, you can have after market ccaps installed. The caps are $75 each with bolts. Machine work is involved, so add that to the price. Sometimes you can use the caps off of an old 12 bolt truck rear end. They are machined the same and you might get lucky and find a set that can be fitted to your housing. All that you need to do is make the hole round and 3.062 diameter. If you find a cap that makes the hole larger then you can machine a little off of the mating surface until the hole is the correct size.

Freddie:
Thanks for the reply. Figured you would step up and answer this for me. I thought this could be done but wasn't for sure. Was wondering if it was worth the money to do this. Any particular year model truck rears that I should try and locate or will any work, as long as it is the 12 bolt version?
Thanks BGH for your help, it is much appreciated!

An of the 12 bolt truck rear ends will work. You can also use the yoke off of it.
